Gunman opens fire in Texas church, killing multiple people

SUTHERLAND SPRINGS, Texas (AP) — A man opened fire inside of a church in a small South Texas community on Sunday, killing multiple people and wounding others before being "taken down," authorities said.

Authorities said a man walked into the First Baptist Church in Sutherland Springs and began shooting, killing multiple people and wounding others. Wilson County Sheriff Joe Tackett told the Wilson County News that the shooter had been "taken down," but it's not known how the shooter died.

Authorities haven't said how many were killed or wounded, but a Wilson County commissioner, Albert Gamez, told cable news outlets that emergency officials told him more than 20 people were slain and more than 20 others were wounded, though those figures hadn't been confirmed.

I believe that holding a firearm is a right. However, I dont believe that holding assault class weapons should be allowed. A pistol is enough if we control higher caliber guns.
Firearms are the excuse since they are handy. But with the NRA and general ignorance, making inroads in curtailing assault weapons is going to be an act of God. Wait for Drumpf to say some’ stupid..

Oh wait, he’s ‘monitoring the situation’..

Hell on earth courtesy of the NRA! But I think there must be something in america’s air or water that makes people have suicidal and homicidal tendencies. A people given in so easily to anger, violence and destruction despite the material comforts accorded to them, they still lack inner peace.

You have to realize why in the beginning they had to let the people carry guns around, it was to fight the british colonizers from invading their homes in 1800's . and now that the colonizers are gone , why do they fancy assault rifles? the head is coming back to bite its own tail.

Good point! After slavery was abolished, slave masters were fearful the newly freed slaves would return and repay for all the evil they had suffered. So whites started ‘carrying’ for what what they call ‘personal protection,’ in reality they were afraid of that big, bogey black man with a grudge who exists only in their imagination. The NRA exists to protect the second amendment for WHITES. They don’t publicly advocate for black gun ownership.
