There is hope that by the time you are on your eighth year a cure will have been found. Otherwise, just stay glued to your TV and never miss the good news. In the meantime, if i were you i would seriously consider buying a coffin

Chances of contracting HIV on a one time sexual encounter are very slim… Problem is with repeated sex with an infected person.

Daktari @Luther12 is this theory true?

PEP’s don’t really work, they are meant basically for psychological reasons, ka mi ni wewe ninge sha anza kuandika will
RIP my nigger

How sure are you of your partner’s status? That is the big question.

I had repeated sex with a HIV positive chic who was aware of her status and wanted to spread it for about a month and I never contracted the damn thing. And before you start jumping into all manner of conclusions, that was about 10 years ago and she died back in 2007.

It’s not a theory @stunner .Research since the late 1980’s has consistently showed that the odds of contracting HIV aids from an infected partner with a low CD4 count is approximately 1:500 exposures. This means that for every 500 people that have sex (one sexual encounter per person) with an infected person only 1 person will contract the disease. The probability of contracting HIV if your sexual partner is on ARV treatment is very low. Not to blow my horn but I work for the health sector and know the government doesn’t want this information shared as it contradicts most of the information that has been shared with the public, and rightly so. Let me share an excerpt form the CDC. Here is the source http://www.cdc.gov/hiv/policies/law/risk.html . According to the CDC which is an authoritative public health organization just like WHO, the risk of contracting HIV in the case of insertive penile-vaginal intercourse (for a man) is 4 cases for every 10,000 exposures to HIV. Compare that to blood transfusion which is 9,250 cases for every 10,000 exposures…

must have been hell on earth undergoing all those tests;tupe hekaya how did you know or did she tell you with a cold heart

This is very consistent with existing research. In some cases even for married couples who have had intercourse for many years one could be HIV positive while the other is negative. This is usually referred to as a discordant HIV couple although the exact cause of discordance has not been ascertained scientifically (at least the last time I checked). However the risk of contracting HIV increases significantly after repeated acts of sexual intercourse that is why HIV is more prevalent among married couples than it is among single people.
