Wazi… I’ll try this

Poa. Nikuulize, 1kg plate ni ya tizi gani?

Weight training ya linear progression. Every workout you add some little weight, but my gym haina anything less that 5 kg plates…

Eventually I’ll add to the collection to make a home gym

Aiiiiii 1kg-5kg that is paper weight, contact me if you have 20kg plates and above plus dumbbells za 50kg and above

Aiii 20 kg , hauna 5kg or 10kg

those small weights I used to lift when I was still a greenhorn in lifting weights

5kg, are not for men right?

People, I squat 140kg, bench 60kg, Overhead press 50kg, deadlift 130kg etc…

I’m on a linear progression program, meaning I add a little weight each workout. At my stage adding 10 kg each workout (2 plates of 5kg) is now impossible, I’m at the point where need to make small increments e.g. 2 kg to prevent stalling.

I now understand the need for a 1kg plate.
Mbona bench yako haimatch the rest?

Bench na overhead press zina involve less muscles than the others, so progress is slower…

For a person of his claimed strength, a 1 plate benchpress is a warm up. Usually, one tends to squat as much as they can bench if not a bit higher.

Take a look at this table of basic strength standards: http://www.crossfit.com/cf-journal/WLSTANDARDS.pdf

The squat is much higher than the bench because it involves more muscles of the body.

The problem usually is people who train for the look, and because they want big puffy chests, focus much more on the bench press (and machines) at the expense of compound exercises like the squat (using free weights). That is why they end up with a strong bench press and a weak squat that are almost at the same level.

If you train for general functional fitness, your squat and deadlift will progress ahead of the presses by far
