HELP

anyone who has knowledge on WISP to give us an hint on how much different service provider pay per Mbps, I was spoke to safaricom and they quoted 2000 per Mbps which I think is very high. Correct me if am wrong.

You are wrong niliwaambia maneno ya kupigia safaricom simu looking for quotes pelekeni huko mbali, what you should do is to first have a registred company/business then book an appointment with their sales agent, go to meet and negotiate from there, safaricom and jamii are very willing to sell to you bandwidth cheaply as long as you take from them the pain of supporting you that means you buy your own equipment and you also setup the network (off-course overseen by their engineer) this way they will sell to you very cheap and also make sure you are not becoming their competitor okay, ni hayo tuu kwa sasa now back to corona.

So what prices did you get? Ndio tukienda kwa sales agents tujue limits zao?

i get 1Gbps from jamii at 30K per month, the most i pay is Safaricom for the same 1Gbps at 80K. What i did there is just lease the line from jamii telecom to the Safaricom data center where my core router and a Netflix cache server resides, the actual internet connection i get from safaricom and i just use jtl for transport to my area of operation (Although on the connection i have a 100Mbps for emergencies), My main ISP is Safaricom, and my other ISP is Telkom where they give me 200Mbps (This serves some customers over the other side of a mountain where there is not much bandwidth being used and it did not make sense to build a bridge to that area.
As long as you are willing to go to the hassle of visiting the offices and knowing exactly what you want and being able to show that what you are putting on the table will be viable then you are good to go.
In comparison if I had to take the internet from Safaricom at my location a 1Gbps connection would have cost me a whopping 800K per month but because I am just taking the connection from the source its much cheaper and i own all the equipment and even had to lay my own cable 80metres to link to the nearest JTL junction box.

So what I’m getting from your post is you get 1Gbps bandwidth from Safaricom and then transport the same via a 1Gbps JTL leased line to your area right? 1Gbps is alot of bandwidth in my case. I’m considering around 100Mbps to 200Mbps. How much do you pay for the backup 100Mbps from JTL and the 200Mbps from Telkom? Its a small time side hustle for my case and I don’t want to be overwhelmed with maintenance. Also what are the licences required to legally run such a business?
