This article states that “10% are resistant to HIV” yet the 10% havent been exposed to HIV to begin with, so how do they know for sure?

The percentage is 1% and of that 1% they are “virtually immune to AIDS”, and it is of descendants, meaning non white descendants as well! No evidence. No trials on these people or any history exposure, just a lot of speculation.
HIV needs a receptor called CCR5 to enter your cells. Without it, HIV cannot enter your cells. So in other words, people who are resistant do not have that receptor. First person to be cured of HIV(Berlin Patient) got leukimia and had a bone marrow transplant from someone who didn’t have it. Also read about the Chinese scientist who used crispr to edit off ccr5 in genes of fertilized ovum && hence had babies born without it(he was later imprisoned)
