How To Hear From God And Why It Is Important

Being born is one of the most challenging realizations of man, we are faced with all kinds of challenges soon after we are born into this world. We have heard of successes and failures, also we have had honest people share their regrets from past decisions, whatever state we are in as people and human beings we are faced with only one of two fate in this life and whatever path we choose is up us. With regards to our decisions, we are presented with two guiding perspectives to live by, the first being psychological —to either take risk on our own terms and deal with its corresponding outcome and the second being spiritual —take risks while involving the Lord and manage the outcome with Him. It is clear at this point the difference between both sides, while it may be easier to go with the former, the latter ensures that you have a higher partner by you in the whole journey. Living on our own terms may be the popular understanding of many people across the globe, the results however can be unstable and inconsistent among all people compared to having a supernatural backing. So what are the benefits of hearing from God? and why is this less practiced even among self professed believers? Answer is: it takes practice and mindfulness. The benefits are enormous and positively reassuring.

God’s guidance is optional but highly important. We have heard of the use of phrases like “wait on the Lord?”, “is it part of God’s plan for you?”, “did you hear from the Lord?” the last one is especially common among singles waiting to meet a partner, and countless other situations where it applies including decisions on a business plan, career choice, making a move that has influence on our future like moving into a new country and any activity that best describes yours. We all reach crossroads where we are faced with decision to take or let’s say you have no choice but only one option to do something with what you have, now you are faced with a new kind of decision of whether or not to go ahead with your plan like David in the scriptures. Being faced with many variable decisions and situations throughout our lives, what do we need to turn our lives into an adventure of discovery rather than endless risks? How do we go about applying this essential component in our lives?

God is willing to speak to you. As written from time immemorial God have always loved speaking to man, for instance when Adam and Eve went astray disobeying the instructions of God by eating of the fruit of the garden, they lost fellowship with God the creator, nevertheless God was Willing to find them and speak to them so that their confusion is taken away: “the Lord called Adam and he heard him” (Genesis 3:8-9). Here we see that God has been speaking to man from the beginning, and he always does in tone and understanding language. Many believe that God speaks only to preachers and very spiritual people, this is not true as God is willing to speak to all his children. The more important question here is are you willing to listen and obey? God relates to us in our spirit not through reasoning and mental channels, but through still voice which are not our thoughts. And so “stillness speaks”.

CHANNELS THROUGH WHICH GOD SPEAKS AND HOW TO HEAR
It is important to understand that like listening to fellow humans speak without our minds wondering, listening to God speak is also a skill. The only thing is this time he is not physically present making the skill a spiritual one. Here we discuss Ways God speaks: https://janetsuberu.com/how-to-hear-from-god/
