Hypertension/High blood pressure

Recently I was diagnosed with high blood pressure. I could not believe it since I am on 27 and have tiny body. Sometimes it shoots from normal even to 170!
Have undergone medication and tried to change my lifestyle to curb it but the worst thing is if I try to sleep, the symptoms start to arise where by even now I cant sleep. My heart pounds very fast and hard with a lot of sweating. Are there quick remedies to sudden reactions of hypertension if a doctor is not around?Am really worried with my life. someone please help. Thanks

I am sorry about your situation especially at your age. Try not to worry about it and trust your medication to keep it under control. It is ironical that even worrying about it could make it shoot.

My lady got it but she is fat
If you are not past 90kgz of weight then Yours is special could be instigated by other things like stress etc or eating too much salt piga lap kaa Sita kila asubuhi

I’m sorry to hear that. You should be worried and get help sooner rather than later. Can you please mention this diagnosis to your doctor. Pheochromocytoma

I have strong reasons to believe that is what ails you.

Pheochromocytoma is a tumor of the adrenal gland that secretes substances known as catecholamines. The most common catecholamine that is secreted is called norepinephrine which can dramatically raise your BP. As you aptly pointed out, your blood pressure goes from normal to extreme within no time.

The other tell-tale sign is sweating and the sensation of a pounding heart beat. Essential hypertension which is the blood pressure disease most people know of doesn’t do that.

“Pheos” are also very difficult to control with regular BP medication.

Can you please seek a second opinion, but I bet it’s a pheochromocytoma. Your age, symptomatology fit perfectly.

Symptoms
Signs and symptoms of pheochromocytomas often include:

[ul]
[li]High blood pressure[/li][li]Heavy sweating[/li][li]Headache[/li][li]Rapid heartbeat (tachycardia)[/li][li]Tremors[/li][li]Paleness in the face (pallor)[/li][li]Shortness of breath (dyspnea)[/li][/ul]
Less common signs or symptoms may include:

[ul]
[li]Anxiety or sense of doom[/li][li]Constipation[/li][li]Weight loss[/li][/ul]
Triggers of symptomatic spells
Spells may occur spontaneously or may be triggered by such factors as:

[ul]
[li]Physical exertion[/li][li]Anxiety or stress[/li][li]Changes in body position[/li][li]Labor and delivery[/li][li]Surgery and anesthesia[/li][/ul]
Foods high in tyramine, a substance that affects blood pressure, also can trigger a spell. Tyramine is common in foods that are fermented, aged, pickled, cured, overripe or spoiled. These foods include:

[ul]
[li]Some cheeses[/li][li]Some beers and wines[/li][li]Chocolate[/li][li]Dried or smoked meats[/li][/ul]
Certain medications that can trigger a symptomatic spell include:

[ul]
[li]Monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs), such as phenelzine (Nardil), tranylcypromine (Parnate) and isocarboxazid (Marplan)[/li][li]Stimulants, such as amphetamines or cocaine[/li][/ul]
When to see a doctor
The signs and symptoms of pheochromocytoma can be caused by a number of conditions. So it’s important to get a prompt diagnosis.

Although high blood pressure is a primary sign of a pheochromocytoma, most people with high blood pressure don’t have an adrenal tumor. Talk to your doctor if any of the following factors are relevant to you:

[ul]
[li]Difficulty controlling high blood pressure with current treatment plan[/li][li]A family history of pheochromocytoma[/li][li]A family history of a related genetic disorder: multiple endocrine neoplasia, type II (MEN II); von Hippel-Lindau disease; familial paraganglioma or neurofibromatosis 1 (NF1)[/li][/ul]

I hope umetombana ya kutosha bcoz i am 100% sure that u wont see 35, hypertension sio mucheso

ama ni blaad claat kwa mwili?

And how sure are you that you will see 35 yourself

Well, I was like you until a few days ago. I am 88kgs and started meds 3 months ago… guess what! The hospital I went to misdiagnosed me and put me on pressure meds when I wasnt supposed to. So I went and blew 25K 2 days ago at some cardiologist that doubles for matter and thats the best 25K I have ever spent.
Now am no longer on meds and I am just eating healthy and working out daily and hizo symptomps that were making me not sleep usiku zilienda zote… my advice… go and see a good cardiologist,… you will thank me later.

I’m a heavy smoker and drinker and morbidly obese na sina blood pressure you guys are weak

be careful, it can strike you any minute. Mine is low blood pressure which makes me feel nausea, and almost like my heart is not beating. This happens when I sweat a lot especially during hot and dry seasons

i will live to 100 years

Boss wacha kujipiga kifua bana unaeza kunywa hyo pombe uanguke ukufe

Hi pole sana but i think a few things can help, start by totally taking out salt from your diet, lower your sugar intake, reduce your waistline, take your medications, start using alot of garlic it contains allicin that can reduce your BP by upto 15% take lots of it, avoid stress dont worry too much about the disease, get your heart checked before you engage in any strenuous exercise last but not least go for further test as @Purple said above let your doctors try and find what triggers your high BP.

I am not an doctor but I believe there are simple interventions that could make your life less stressful. You may have to try each and you could hopefully find something helpful. Some work with some people sometimes to certain extents. For instance, moving your supper to earlier hours or completely eliminating it could decrease the incidence of the pressure spike you experience when going to sleep. It may or may not work with you but I have seen it work with someone.

This could be caused by DEhydration, just drink a lot of fluids, wachana na pombe. Anyway ANAEMIA could be behind it

As a man with hypertension you might not be worried by kidney failures, heart failures and other organs but IMPOTENCE will set in. Anza kupigana miti vizuri before wakati ufike

People are different genetically… it is not that he is weaker than you but genetics predispose people to some of these diseases…

True

Was diagnosed with it at 25 all tests done ie ECG, echo, kidney ultrasound, CBC etc came OK but I was pretty overweight at 88 have done much work my dosage has been reduced to 6.5 mg anywho have made peace with it…get to see acardiologist …
