“Anyone with a qualified device can upgrade to Windows 10, including those with pirated copies of Windows.”
[B]Microsoft is extending its free Windows 10 upgrade offer even to those who pirated Windows 7 or Windows 8, executive Terry Myerson reveals in a new interview with Reuters.

“We are upgrading all qualified PCs, genuine and non-genuine, to Windows 10,” he said.

A Microsoft representative later confirmed Myerson’s comments, adding that the company hopes to “re-engage” with software pirates.

“Anyone with a qualified device can upgrade to Windows 10, including those with pirated copies of Windows,” the representative told The Verge. “We believe customers over time will realize the value of properly licensing Windows and we will make it easy for them to move to legitimate copies.”

As was previously announced, for the first twelve months following Windows 10’s launch, PCs running Windows 7 and 8 will be eligible for a free upgrade to the new OS.

This week, Microsoft announced that Windows 10 will launch this summer, though the technology giant has not yet pinned down a specific release date. Microsoft also revealed that it’s working with Chinese Internet giant Tencent to bring the massively popular MOBA League of Legends to Windows 10.

Windows 10 features anew Xbox gaming app, which will not require Xbox Live Gold. Meanwhile, another marquee gaming feature for Windows 10 is that it will allow Xbox One games to stream to PCs and tablets running the new OS. In addition, Windows 10 supports cross-platform play, starting with Fable Legends.

They have just woken up to the fact that the android ecosystem is unstoppable. We could soon have windows for android in Google play.

Nope they goa a modern CEO

Dipping earnings, a stagnating demand, and a shrinking ecosystem means death ahead. The CEO has very little to do with the direction the giant takes.

circumstances have changed from when XP ruled over all. but lazima wapate place ya kukamua pesa. some are even speculating that

 1. windows 10 will have ads (imagine)
 2. softwares will not be crackable (denuvo)
 3. appstore will be the main income source (more expensive software)
 4. unlockable limits. u pay then for example u can use more ram/ storage
 5. NSA and other agencies will be privy to your data

some options above zinakaa outrageous/ conspiracy theories. nitachill and see how the cookie crumbles. i just accepted win 8.1 the other day bana

WAH HIZI NI HEKAYA AMA!!! lakini windows haz been cracked since time in memorial… lets see

also win 10 will support DX12. good news for gamers cc @Cypher254 @Deorro

the main reason y am looking forward to DirectX 12 is multi-GPU configuration. Currently you are limited with the speed of the PCIe slots. the more you add the slower it will be.

yep. pia wanasema it makes full use of multiple cpu cores like never before…leading to better efficiency in power usage

@mariachi , ati say what? Denuvo was cracked in 2013 around october/november when fifa 14 was released. Fifa 15 plus other games e.g DA:I was also protected using a more advanced denuvo but that didnt stop 3DM chinese hackers from reverse engineering and hacking it. There is NOTHING in windows that will never be hacked. Anything in windows will forever be hacked.

true, but you can see that imeleta shida sana kwa hackers and pirates. as of now FIFA 15 cracked cannot be played on some machines. so many months after release. some ‘pirates’ definitely opted to buy it coz in a few months FIFA 16 ndio hio tena na hujawai cheza 15

I thought they said the ‘free upgrade’ will only apply to China bootlegs?

Microsoft will stay. I dont know abt Windows though it seems it is there to stay too.

apparently everybody gets the upgrade

Upgrade should only be for genuine software, like my Windows XP.

I love this. Seems their market share will move up a little as some folks return from mac os and Linux variants. Probably.

No desktop operating system for general purpose application matches Windows. Even Mac people stopped whining and made their desktop computers compartible. Linux is good for programmers because it operates a little above machine level and needs few installations to make it run requisite software for development. Mac OS ni ya sycophants and those whose computers are locked to it.
