I have noted (both interwebs and stockists) that for each 5 Subarus on sale, 2 are Foresters. Also observed that for each 5 Foresters on sale, 3 are SH while SG and SJ have a piece each. Do not ask me where i got my stats from. But if you got a keen eye, you could tell with the trend is definitely due to something.
Wadau, especially those who know a few things about cars, what could be triggering this influx of SHs and SJs on sale. Or is it that people are holding on to their SGs? Help a brother navigate the landmine that is second hand Forester ownership.
SH probably is because of low maintenance costs.
SJ family is an expensive affair to maintain as much as they delivers when you want.
SJ family is premium and need everything premium to keep it on the road. Fuel hata vpower is a little lowly and you might need a remap for to accomodate it in terms SJG-Perfomance.
I’ve seen a few fucked up SJG’s due to bad maintenance/additives coupled with whacky mecs who don’t understand these models. Of course everyone is familiar with SH, but hapo kwa SJ, Kuna shida Kenya hen maintainance calls. Preferably get someone hapo Subaru Kenya or high end knowledgeable mechanics.
It’s not a car to be serviced hapo kwa local ama petrol station kama nze.
If your pockets are good and need to feel the sweetness of SJ, get it, if you only need a movable jalopy, SH is good for you.
Of course the incline lies in German machines we know, but recently these German machines like Audi are narrowing down the coveted Q7 to 2.0L Quattro meaning the FA20 Engine of SJG Outputs more power than an Audi Q7 2018+.

Due to ease of tuning the Subarus, you easily get 300HP out of that engine which is an equal to earlier generations of Audi Q7.
I picked Audi for this comparison because it was the closest toy I wanted to get but mfuko was too steep while the underbelly of the Forester had more to offer at half the price of Audi.
In other words, the Japanese were compliant to emission standards of 2025 way before the Germans though about it and compressed their power-trains downwards from 2.5L turbos to 2.0L turbos while maintaining the thrill.

I have the first gen Audi Q7 (4L) with the 3L V6 Turbo diesel power plant. Very torquey. I don’t want to even imagine how powerful the v12s were. Stocked with nearly 500bhp and roughly 750Nm of torque as standard. Only 50 units were produced and sold in UK alone.
The new Q7 just look like a big estate car. It has lost that chunky rugged look

[li]SJ is made of biscuit particularly the CVT transmission. Couple that with our wacky maintenance guys and you have disaster waiting to happen,[/li][li]SH cured virtually all the problems that afflicted the SF and SG. Sturdy vehicle that one. You can also downgrade to the SG5 but look for one with a 2 CAM engine as opposed to the 4 CAM. Good luck finding one since most owners would rarely sell.[/li][/ol]
SG was the best in the forester units. Kwanza SG9, that car was a beast. It was a 2500cc, STI car with turbo and had a 6 speed manual transmission. Ukipata mtu na SG9 saa hii haezi uza. Ama akiuza anauza with a ridiculuous price tag!
SH NA ziko na shida ya head gasket na overheating. My colleagues wameumizwa nazo. Ata kuna mmoja aliiuzia kwa garage after aambiwe anunue engine n.o 2… SJ nayo iko sawa as long as mtu asiilaunch kimandazi, hiyo CVT yake si fiti sana.
