Iran: Drumpf Saving Face?

After getting cold feet at the prospect of what would go down in history as Drumpf War I, Drumpf now tries to tell the world that the US avenged the downed drone with a ‘cyber-attack’.

Why didn’t they cripple Iran’s control systems before the wayward aircraft was zapped?

Critical weapons systems are walled and completely offline. No school boy errors are allowed since Stuxnet virus crippled a power plant in Iran a few years ago.

Even then they were not online as such. They used a flash disk to get the servers infected. And even if not online, they are on a network of some kind.

One will never know what precisely caused Drumpf to call off the strike on Iran. However, it is not possible to totally exonerate the man from the rising tensions. He came into office and completely shot down the agreement between the US and Iran reached by his predecessor. In his own words, he was going to renegotiate the mother of all deals. To enforce additional sanctions before starting a new deal puts the other side between a rock and a hard place. Drumpf ought to know by now that in politics there are no absolutes. That when your electorate trusts you with the most powerful office in the world, there is no room for egoistic and chest thumping decisions. That the livelihoods and well being of millions in the globe are affected by decisions made by the occupant of that office

The other puzzling thing is that Drumpf came on board on the pledge that he would minimize US involvement in foreign wars on issues that are not an immediate threat to US interests. The curious thing is that he then he brings Neo-cons like Bolton into his administration. John Bolton is described by Tucker as a political tapeworm. The kind of Neo-cons that believe there should be regime change in every country they dislike because his ilk said so. That mindset is absolute rubbish. I rarely listen to Tucker Carlson, but on this coverage of the averted conflict, Tucker of Fox News is on board:

Once again, why after the drone was shot to smithereens?

USSR was the strongest enemy of USA but the latter vanquished them without directly bombing them. They will other methods to disabled these guys

There is so much we do not know about this thing. Lots of conspiracy theories to boot, too

This has been Drumpf’s approach to almost every foreign affairs or global diplomacy task.

His ignorance and penchant for short-term deal-making leads him to demolish existing agreements and then stand there wondering where to go next. The pressure on Iran has reached a point where they don’t care any more. Same with China.

The US has often touted its model of democracy as being the one to emulate. It is supposed to be filled with checks and balances. I have wondered on numerous times where these checks and balances went to sleep since the ascendancy of Drumpf . How can it be that a man with such impulsive and self centered tendencies raises the ruble so much with another country, and comes within an inch of starting a potentially devastating world conflict in a system with adequate checks and balances?

Can Uhuru (with all his power) goad Oscar Sudi repeatedly and order the military to attack Eldoret on a whim?

I did not think up the story of the ‘cyber-attack’. Whether true or not, it is as stupid as anything else coming out of the White House since January 2017.

Sure. Propaganda is real! But you never know!

For starters the Democrats cannot legitimately come to the defence of the nations being attacked.
All of you seem to forget the groundwork against China started with the Obama Administration.
Remember the ZTE sanctions???, That had already been recommended by the Pentagon as far back as 2014 and Obama blocked a Chinese takeover of Qualcomm.
Hillary Clinton herself once stated that she hated the idea of her children and grandchildren ever living in a world dominated by China.
The people advising Trump on sanctioning Huawei are the same ones who would have given the same advice to a Democrat president.
When it comes to Iran, both Republicans and Democrats agree that Iran is a threat to the US and a top state sponsor of terrorism. Essentially everyone in D. C. is a hawk when it comes to Iran.
And both Trump and Democrats do not want a war with Iran, only the likes of Bolton do.
However, there would not be much opposition to the bombing of Iran the way there was to Iraq actually.
Both sides would be happy if the Mullahs were bombed of the face of the earth.

Who said there was a strike order in the first place? Misdirection ladies and gentlemen

Yep

You got it, kwanza when I heard ati “Planes were already in the air” when the stop order came, nilijuwa hapa tunabebwa Wana

It’s not a democracy as people think. Corporate interests come first and you’d be surprised how powerful the American president is constitutionally. An emperor of some sort. He has powers to go to war without going through Congress.

Democracy gani!

The Americans said it, not us. Nobody can deny that Drumpf is wary of starting a war, but he’s under constant pressure from Bolton and Pompeo to do so. Those are reckless hawks who have done it before.

This is an illiterate, arrogant rapist. As much as white people scoff at Africans for being colonized, all the facts pointing to this bastard being a racist divisionist who lies like his life depended on it, are bare and widely covered by all the media including his darling Fox News. But white people eat his shit up.

Bernie Sanders Says Trump Helped Create Iran Crisis

The Vermont senator likened the president’s Iran strategy to “setting fire to a basket full of paper and then putting it out.” Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) lambasted President Donald Trump for instigating the current crisis with Iran, saying the president’s strategy is akin to “setting fire to a basket full of paper and then putting it out.”In an interview with CBS’s “Face the Nation,” which aired in full Sunday, Sanders was asked whether he believed Trump’s decision last week to call off a military strike against Iran was the “right one.”

Laughing, Sanders responded: “See, it’s like somebody setting fire to a basket full of paper and then putting it out. He helped create the crisis, and then he stopped the attacks.”
Trump, Sanders said, seems to think “that a war with Iran is something that might be good for this country.”
When host Margaret Brennan interjected to say that Trump had called the planned strike against Iran “limited,” Sanders replied sarcastically: “Oh, just a limited strike. Oh, well, I’m sorry. I just didn’t know that it’s OK to simply attack another country with bombs.”

“That’s an act of warfare,” Sanders stressed.
Sanders is among the two dozen Democratic presidential candidates who hope to topple Trump in 2020. He said he believes a war with Iran would be “even worse” than the Iraq War ― causing “more loss of life” and triggering “massive instability” in the region.
The senator promised that if he’s elected commander in chief he would “do everything I can, number one, to stop a war with Iran.”

Trump tweeted on Friday that the U.S. military had been “cocked & loaded” to attack Iran after the country shot down an American surveillance drone. But the president said he chose to scrap the offensive with just 10 minutes to spare after he learned that 150 people could be killed in the attack.

The potential fatalities did not seem “proportionate to shooting down an unmanned drone,” the president tweeted, explaining his decision.

Several Democratic candidates for president have criticized Trump’s handling of the Iran crisis.

Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) accused the president last week of fueling “another unnecessary conflict.” Former Vice President Joe Biden called Trump’s Iran strategy “a self-inflicted disaster.”
