I am re-living my childhood. Watching this wire-fu movie. I first watched this in one of those 5-bob movie dens. The den was right next to our school. Which reminds me of a snitch named Deno. Kept cramping our style by jotting down our names on a piece of paper and having the deputy headmaster call us out on parade. Beat the crap out of us in front of the entire school for watching flicks at the video den.
Deno (of 7 White) if you ever got smart enough to join Ktalk I would like to say a ‘fuck you’ on behalf of every 7W member. Negro walked around with lists of people who committed major crimes: movie watchers, Kiswahili speakers, noise makers, dirty shirts. I’m not sure how he managed to write our names down correctly because, as I recall, when it came to classwork dude was slower than molasses. This fella had us going to the movies with our shirts wrapped around our heads to conceal our faces – like some weird cult. On one occasion Omosh, the guy who ran the video den, pimp smacked the shit out of Deno after we told him that Deno was ruining his business. Deno walked about ten steps then fainted. Had us all scared, man. We thought he was dead and we were all going to jail.
Anyways, next on my playlist is Tai Chi III; another wire-fu. And later, Rogue One. Then later still Queen of Katwe. Hopefully I can complete it this time. Good times.
