Is academic success wired to religion?

Many years ago I was once fortunate to sit in a law school and i found out something very interesting,90% of my classmates were very religious people or at least had strong Christian roots. The religious am talking about here was more to the standard of highly principled Christians with strict adherence to moral values.Although i never made it myself to graduation,i can attest that i was once an altar boy(or mass server),spent my high school in a minor seminary and most interesting at sometime i wanted to be a priest. To cut the story short,do you guys think there is a relationship between religion and academic success? Is it that God actually foresees one is religious and from birth blesses them with a sharp mind or its actually the reverse, that when you realize your mind’s capability you turn to religion to try and ensure you maintain you good academic performance?Anyone ever experienced the same?

Why is Africa then lagging behind in everything other than religion?

The smartest people I know are not religious! Enda Silicon Valley, Wall street, or Ivy league research centers, three places that attract the world’s brightest minds. Huko you can count the number of Christians with your fingers and even those who are religious, they are in progressive religions that have embraced science and reason, not the bible thumping, head numbing BS that ngozi nyethi wamedopt…

Africa’s riches are in heaven. Colonialism blah blah mzungu Francophone Africa blah blah. End of rant.:cool:

Being smart and being religious have no correlation at all. There are generally fewer christians than non-christians worldwide (i.e. christians by heart and not by label as some people tend to assume).

So there’s likely fewer christians than non-christians in the several ways you could cluster people: smart or not, black or white or whatever, male or female, tall or short etc…

Yours truly is openly anti religion.

Hehe Luke 6:20 happy are the poor for theirs is the kingdom of heaven

A curious survey would have been the possibility of a positive correlation between architects and alcohol

with any form of brainwash, your brain becomes a one track no other channels to meander so ikikfika nikusoma then hauna otherwise but kukanyaga na kwenda

whoever wrote that verse should be slapped the fwack out, hata pastor kyuna haei kubaliana na hio upuss

doesn’t that verse contradict the parable of the talents?

The book is full of contradictions

Yeah it always seems so… It even admits this by saying that it seems like foolishness to those who try interpret it in their own minds, rather that by the Spirit.

Yeah right…

ungemiliza spirit hu-buy-iwa wapi…

:D:D

you are unlikely to find a truly smart religious person. major inventors and discoverers of our time can give you a hint.

Hehe the irony…

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/René_Descartes#Descartes_on_religious_beliefs

Quite a number of smart people have been, and are religious (I prefer the term spiritual)… Even Einsten got to the point where he considered the possibility of (a non-personal) God, just from his scientific investigations.

Descartes never provided a concrete proof of the existence of god. read meditation III and meditation V of his book “meditations on first philosophy”
His attempts to fool princess of bohemia into believing his claims were futile. he couldnt answer on the relationship between body and soul. read the correspondence. he met a truly smart person in Elisabeth. however his treatise on hyperbolic doubt is legendary. the first of its kind.

Was agnostic…
