Is the destruction Mwea Rice being plotted from Yangzhou China?

At the bank of the Yangtze River, are located the largest rice growing fields in China. Indeed fried rice was invented in Yangzhou.

Why is this significant? A certain initiative has been set in motion at the Embu County Assembly, to give a fraction of the 54 000 acre Mwea rice scheme in Mbeere South to the Chinese city of Yangzhou, granting exclusive privileges and access, so the Chinese can establish a city like Yangzhou at the heartland of Kenya’s prime rice paddies.

How is it possible to allow such an initiative to pass without secondary scrutiny from central government, any initiative which present a probability of introducing a threat to the nation’s food security, ought to come under an independent tribunal for scrutiny?

I will write no more, every person with a little wit will have an understanding of the dire implications, we already have the SGU deal and if anyone has forgotten about Naivasha County; a few years ago they handed Chinese investor the fine fresh water, Lake Naivasha, one can guess after years of harvesting large quantities of eggs from the lake, destruction of fish stock diversity resulted. China is now mmm……the largest exporter of Tilapia from its fish ponds.

In only a few years, China will be the largest grower of the Mwea variety rice and a weed so hideous will have invaded the Mwea rice paddies, and off course we will need to import our rice from Yanfzhou.

Why can we not build superb Kenyan villages, engage students from the universities and local intuitions to present designs in a completion? The Chinese and other tourists can stay there.

Mwea Rice Scheme is in Kirinyaga County, not Embu. The other Mwea Scheme in Embu was subdivided recently and title deeds issued but some guys fought and other went to court, so the exercise was halted. What if the Embu county assembly wanted to allocate the 100 acres to American investors, would you have complained.

This is a complete lie.

“How is it possible to allow such an initiative to pass without secondary scrutiny from central government.”

Is there any project in Kenya even building your own home that doesn’t require licencing from national and county government. Like @Dereva has said Mwea irrigation scheme was privatized under nyayo from state owned to mwea Sacco’s owned by farmers. It was after 2 years of strike and fights led by the Kirinyaga MP then. Nyayo agreed but warned they will regret that decision. Sacco leaders celebrated, took over ate to their fill. JICA role ended. No farm extension services, no fertilizers etc. Production dropped to current low levels. We now had to import rice to fill domestic needs. Now they are fighting to split into individual land ownership.

Anyway I get the point, its a Chinese company investing in this project. However let’s us that to spread falsehoods based on zero information.

Wimuruaru kiongo?

If such an American investor orignating from a rice zone, and with a record of duping and outwitting local fools then they would receive a similar feedback.

My friend Mwea Settlement Scheme is NOT a rice scheme.

It is never my intention to spreading lies. It is often very difficult to see things which are too obvious when the word investor ( money ) is written all over.

All I will say is pin the post, the future is not too far away, but much nearer than anyone could possibly imagine.

Dominion!! … that’s all I’m gonna say… deduce from it what you may!!!

Since last year a new rice has been introduced to mwea and the usual mwea pishori is not easily reaching the market. Nowadays people are opting to buy Pakistan rice, next ten years we will wake up. But it shall be too late

Peana habari kinaga-ubaga. Details, please if you may.

they are coming. rice in hand. remember the last pale skin came bible in hand. how did that go?
