“The worm is about one to two millimeters wide and an adult female is 60 to 100 centimeters long (males are much shorter at 12–29 mm or 0.47–1.14 in).”- Wikipedia:eek::eek::eek:

Kenya wants to be declared Guinea worm free by WHO. This campaign is to assure that.

Hizi zote umesema hua kwa tumbo. Njoka is round worm, thambara or ndanguru is tape worm. Hii guinea worm hamna kikuyuni kwa ivo haina jina ya kienyeji.
Tumeambiwa it can be on any part of the body ata kwa macho

Hii ikupatikana vijijini si inafanya kamba ya kufungia kuni? He!

cheza na wakenya, wata import watu kutoka south sudan, somali and congo to claim the prize

Thambara haikuwangi kwa tumbo. Inakuwanga kwa maji, nafikiri ndio hii ama sampuli ingine yake

mwaga mayai za guinea worm kwa borehole. village yote itakua infected

ew

True. Thambara hupatikana kwa maji. Used to see them a lot in some place we used water for irrigation when I was a kid. Used to scare the hell out of me.

Ndangúrú is tapeworm. Fish tapeworm (Diphylobothrium latum) and pig/pork tapeworm (Taenia solium) are the worst.

Guinea worm (I think we called it Dracuncula something or the other) has terrorized quite a few countries in Western Africa for a long time. The documentaries I’ve watched on the same, some screened by AlJazeera (viva FTA:)) have been painful to say the least.

Until the other day it was common in the general area of Turkana.

PS: apologies kwa kuchelewa. Internet siku hizi imekuwa mbovu sana. I’m on the hunt for alternatives.
