Its Worlds Giraffe Day! 3 types of giraffes we have in Kenya

Village Elder
World Giraffe Day is an exciting annual event initiated by GCF to celebrate the longest-necked animal on the longest day or night (depending on which hemisphere you live!) of the year – 21 June – every year!
Not only is it a worldwide celebration of these amazing and much-loved animals, but an annual event to raise support, create awareness and shed light on the challenges giraffe face in the wild

Here in Kenya we have three types of Giraffes
1. Masai Giraffe
This is the most common type and found almost everywhere
Notice its clumsy pattern

2. Reticulated Giraffe
My favorite of all Giraffes
Found in Parks North of Equator ie Samburu and Meru National Park
Take note of its very fine pattern

3. Rothschild Giraffe
This is the giraffe you see at Karen Giraffe Center. Its rare and endangered. It is common in Western and also have been reintroduced in Nakuru National Park
It appears like its wearing white socks

I will be uploading more photos of these giraffes that i have captured on my previous safaris especially the Meru National Giraffe which is my favorite!

If you wanna join me on my future safaris connect with me via and see our tours and upcoming events
