Jay-Z has amassed a billion-dollar fortune that unseats Dr. Dre

Jay-Z might have 99 problems, but a fortune ain’t one: The rap mogul is now considered a billionaire

The bona fide title comes by way of Forbes, the financial magazine known for its annual wealth rankings, which conservatively estimates a 10-figure fortune, accounting for his “superstar lifestyle.” Of equal note, the Brooklyn-bred rapper is reported to be the first hip-hop artist to reach billionaire status.
That’s a title that could be contested by fellow mogul Dr. Dre, who declared himself “the first billionaire in hip-hop” back in 2014 around the time he cut an estimated $3.2-billion deal with Apple for Beats Electronics. However, at the time, Forbes estimated his value climbing to $800 million, which isn’t a figure to sneeze at.

Like Dre, though, Jay-Z’s fortune isn’t attributed to his musical success but is a consequence of the name recognition it afforded him. Forbes reported that his empire-building prowess came from recognizing “that he should build his own brands rather than promote someone else’s.”

Jay-Z, real name Sean Carter, got his start in the Brooklyn projects as a drug dealer, giving his rags-to-riches tale an ever-aspirational element. His business savvy could be traced back to the launch of his Roc-A-Fella record label to release his 1996 debut album “Reasonable Doubt.” Needless to say, several critically acclaimed albums followed (14 of which went No. 1), as well as 22 Grammy Awards and notice by the Songwriters Hall of Fame.
He’s also married to singer-turned-business shark Beyoncé, and together they’ve repeatedly topped the charts, not to mention lists for power couples. Together, they surpassed the billion-dollar mark in 2017.
Jay has since amassed his wealth through massive liquor, art, and real-estate deals, by buying stakes in companies like Uber and starting up Tidal.
Forbes calculated his $1-billion net worth through stakes in Armand de Brignac champagne and D’Ussé cognac, which together earned him am estimated $410 million. Add to that $220 million from cash and investments, $100 million from streaming service Tidal, $75 million from his entertainment company Roc Nation, another $75 million from his music catalog, $70 million from his impressive art collection and $50 million from real estate deals that frequently make headlines.
That further proves another of his lyrics that he’s not a businessman: He’s a business, man.

Now this here is a story of a real hustler, wachana na wengeni, wezi, branding themselves as such.

A hustler is a prostitute…

Yeah true, wealth that can be traced. Hapa Kenya we have billionaires who don’t produce anything.

Sasa wacha uone taxman was anko Sam akikimbisha the nigga

Why would he kimbiza him when he works so hard and files his returns? tax man has nada on Jiggerman. He is not stupid.

All women have pussies, lakini wengi wanaitumia kususu tu … hats rent haiwezi walipia.

Exactly. With his businesses and investments total legitimate.

More Money, More Problems?

(CNN) Rihanna has emerged as the richest female musician in the world, with a fortune considerably larger than those of the grande dames of pop: Madonna, Céline Dion and Beyoncé. Rihanna’s music is far from the only source of her wealth.

The 31-year-old, whose real name is Robyn Rihanna Fenty, is worth a staggering $600 million, according to Forbes – overtaking Madonna by $30 million, Dion by $150 million and Beyoncé by $200 million.

While Rihanna is best known for hits such as “Umbrella,” “Diamonds” and “What’s My Name?,” her music is not the only source of her wealth.
In fact, according to Forbes, the majority of her income comes from her partnership with LVMH, the French luxury goods company that owns the likes of Christian Dior, Givenchy and Louis Vuitton.

Last month, the Barbadian star launched her fashion label Fenty at a pop-up boutique in Paris, becoming the first black woman to create an original brand with LVMH.
Fenty is just the latest of Rihanna’s business ventures, joining her lingerie label Savage X Fenty, which she launched last year, and her cosmetics brand, Fenty Beauty, set up in 2017.
The cosmetics firm generated an estimated $570 million in revenue in its first 15 months, according to Forbes, while the business magazine estimates that the operation is worth, conservatively, more than $3 billion.
While LVMH owns about half of that, Forbes estimates Rihanna’s stake at around 15% – though this could not be confirmed.

The clothing collection is her first venture into the luxury fashion market, although she has already created collections for British fashion retailer River Island, and was made the creative director of Puma in 2014.
Rihanna’s other ventures have been widely celebrated for their inclusivity. Her cosmetics line debuted with 40 foundation shades, while her lingerie line has been applauded for catering to a range of skin tones and body types. Her fashion line, meanwhile, caters for women up to a size US 14.

In a statement released last month, Rihanna said: “Women are forces of this earth. We are multifaceted, complex, vulnerable yet bulletproof, and Fenty speaks to all of our intricacies.”
The singer recently revealed in an interview with theNew York Times Style Magazine that she has moved to London to be closer to LVMH. During the interview, Rihanna revealed just how far she has come from her humble upbringing on the Caribbean island to where she is today.
She said: “You know, when I was younger, I couldn’t afford everything, but a pair of Timberlands: That was my Dior. And I had to save my money for a whole school year to get those Timberlands that I wanted, and I did it.”
It’s that background that also informs her business acumen. She told the magazine: “It’s the thing that keeps me asking: So how much is this gonna cost at retail? How can we bring the price down without compromising on quality?”
So will she slow down now or is the plan to continue to work, work, work, work, work, work?
She told the magazine: “I never thought I’d make this much money, so a number is not going to stop me from working. I’m not being driven by money right now. Money is happening along the way, but I’m working out of what I love to do, what I’m passionate about. Work will change when my life changes in the future but an amount of money is not going to stop that.”

I think that he honestly earned his money and I dont see any problem with it. He was writing very good songs and became very popular all around the world. It means that he was increasing his wealth along with his popularity

Money problems for The Wealthy:

Rihanna’s lawsuit against her dad for using ‘Fenty’ is headed to a jury trial

According to new court documents obtained by INSIDER, the multihyphenate star and Ronald Fenty, her father, are expected in court on June 23, 2020, at 8:30 a.m. Rihanna previously sued her father, as well as a man named Moses Perkins, in January for using the name Fenty to market their brand, Fenty Entertainment, The Blast reported.

Rihanna trademarked the name, which she shares with her father, before launching her beauty brand in 2017.
In recent years, Rihanna has used her last name to catapult multiple successful business ventures
She first found inspiration in the moniker around 2017 when she launched her cosmetics brand, Fenty Beauty. The line was instantly praised for its wide shade range and versatile products.
Prior to launching the brand, Rihanna trademarked her last name, INSIDER previously reported.

The musician-turned-beauty-mogul then transferred her business skills to the fashion world. She created a successful partnership between Fenty and Puma and later launched her own lingerie line called Savage x Fenty.
The latter was widely praised for both its inclusive size range and its debut fashion show, where women with different skin tones and body types walked the runway.

Rihanna most recently dove into the high-end world of designers by launching her own fashion house under LVMH. Products range in price from $190 to $810, and advertisements for the brand appear to be unedited.
Rihanna’s father, Ronald, founded his own Fenty brand in 2017
According to The Blast, which previously said it obtained court documents, Ronald founded Fenty Entertainment in 2017 and then posed as his daughter’s manager. He reportedly booked 15 concerts in Latin America, as well as another two in the United States, for $15 million and $400,000 respectively.
Rihanna’s original lawsuit asked for a court injunction that would stop her father from using the name Fenty in business, as well as unspecified damages.

Rihanna has previously spoken out against her father
In 2009, Rihanna said during a Good Morning America interview that her father used to beat her mother.
“Domestic violence is not something that people want anybody to know, so she would just hide it in the house,” Rihanna said during the interview. “I always said to myself, ‘I’m never going to date somebody like my dad, never.’”
According to the Independent, Rihanna also told Vogue in 2011 that her father told the press “a bunch of lies” after her ex-boyfriend Chris Brown was convicted of assaulting her.
“You hear the horror stories about people going behind people’s backs and doing strange things, but you always think, ‘Not my family. My father would never do that to me,’” Rihanna reportedly told Vogue in 2011.
“But my dad went to the press and just told them a bunch of lies,” she continued. “Because he hadn’t talked to me after that whole thing. He never called to find out how I was doing, if I was alive, nothing. He just never called. He went straight to the press and got a cheque. And now he does it again.”
“It’s like, what do I even mean to him?” Rihanna told Vogue “It’s really strange. That’s the only word I can think of to describe it because you grow up with your father, you know him, you are a part of him, for goodness sake! And then he does something so bizarre that I can’t begin to wrap my mind around it.”
Representatives for Rihanna did not immediately reply to INSIDER’s request for comment.
