1984 was probably Kenya’s worst year ever! economic stagnation, political witchhunt following the August 1982 coup, shifta banditry and clan wars on steroids in NEP and famine that causedmany but largely undocumented deaths. But then Kiambukuta gifted us KSK.

In fact I was just listening to KSK on Saturday evening then news of Kiambukuta’s demise broke 12 hours later.
In my formative days of primary school and secondary, Josky was my primary entertainment as there was no TV and radio was government controlled.
So we just sat down and listened to Mata Kita Bloque, Minzata, Likambo na Moto te, Mehida, Propetaire, Nostalgie, Fariya and other Kiambukuta classics. All on those 33 RPM LPs from Polygram that were bigger than the turntable but somehow the needle was still able to traverse the whole LP.
Nostalgic!!
