That drone mesmerized people. But I think Nasa also has a drone.

@spear by the mentioning of the word Tharaka Nithi you know it’s always being a nightmare to some people since 2007.

President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto on Tuesday said they had given out three million title deeds as pledged in their manifesto in 2013. Speaking during a tour of Tharaka Nithi after issuing 7,137 titles, the Jubilee leaders promised to transform the country if given a second term. They vowed to fulfil the pledges contained in their party manifesto launched on Monday. President Kenyatta said the presentation of 7,137 titles, including one for the Tharaka campus, a constituent college of Chuka University, will be followed by another 13,000 that are ready for issuing in the county.

LAND PROBLEM

“We said we had a solution to the land problem and promised to deliver three million titles.

We wanted Kenyans to get the documents to effectively use their land to improve their lives,” President Kenyatta said, adding that he was glad he had delivered that pledge. Mr Kenyatta said his government had performed well by addressing the basic needs of Kenyans, including an improvement in access to education and health.

“In 2013, we pledged to pay for national exams and provide free maternity services, and we have delivered. In our new manifesto, we are promising to ensure our mothers get free maternity services at public and mission hospitals. We will fulfil our pledge for free secondary education,” said Mr Kenyatta.

MARGINALISED AREAS

The Head of State said his government had recognised marginalised areas, including Tharaka Nithi, by giving Prof Kithure Kindiki the position of Senate Majority Leader. Jubilee candidates received a warm reception in Prof Kindiki’s backyard but efforts by Mr Ruto to endorse them at Ciakariga and Kathwana were met with opposition from the residents.

The residents expressed support for Mr Kiambi Kiriiro of Maendeleo Chap Chap and Mr Samuel Ragwa of Narc Kenya, compelling Mr Ruto to urge them to vote for the President and make an independent choice on other leaders.

“I have heard that you support Kiriiro and Ragwa but please vote for us in the August election,” said the Deputy President.

EMPTY TALK

Mr Kenyatta said the leaders in the rival National Super Alliance (Nasa) were professionals in empty talk while Jubilee was keen on advancing Kenya’s development.

“We want to unite Kenyans through development. It is upon you to choose between rhetoric and performance. We have brought the first tarmacked road to Tharaka and given top government positions to your leaders. What have our opponents done here in all the years they were in government?”

Mr Kenyatta added: “Your neighbour Kalonzo Musyoka has been in government for 35 years, but there is no project in Tharaka associated with him? We are the first to bring development here. Can he gather courage to stand before you and talk against us?”

MAKING INROADS

He pleaded with the youth to avoid being wooed by the Nasa leaders, who are said to be making inroads in the county.
Jubilee’s pointman, Senator Kindiki, is fighting against his elder brother, Prof Isaiah Kindiki, who is the Nasa campaign coordinator in Tharaka Nithi.

Mr Kenyatta and Mr Ruto started their campaigns at Mukothima Market before proceeding to Kibung’a, Marimanti, Ciakariga, Kathwana, Chogoria and Chuka towns, where they said they had a better agenda for the 45 million Kenyans.

ONLINE JOBS

At Mukothima, Mr Kenyatta and Mr Ruto were received by politicians from Jubilee and parties friendly to the President, including Senator Kindiki, Governor Ragwa, Chuka/Igambang’ombe MP Muthomi Njuki (Jubilee governorship candidate), Mr Kiriiro (MCC Senate candidate), Woman rep Beatrice Nkatha and independent governor candidate Petkay Miriti, among others. Mr Kenyatta and his deputy said they were offering a better solution for Kenyans in the next five years compared to their opponents.Mr Ruto said they were keen on achieving their pledge to create 1.5 million jobs every year through the establishment of factories and provision of free Internet to spur online jobs.
