I thought the county govt is responsible for such roads? The multiplicity and overlap of roles in the many roads authorities is clearly causing a confusion… You will find some urban roads constructed by CDF, County govts. & others by KURA. Creation of a focal point for roads construction is needed

Its can only be confusing if one entity decides to ignore the rest. However the processes of building any road means at several points you will have discussions of the same and agree. Either county, cdf and National government needs some licences from the other to get their projects going. Lastly after all licences are acquired by either of the three then the mandatory public participation meetings can take place.

Once such a road construction is completed, who is it handed over to or which authority takes charge of long term road maintenance?
Is it the local government or does the local government expect the central government to take the responsibility, in which case there is no one responsible; consequently the roads fall apart due to absence of maintenance?

Our roads have in the past deteriorated due absence of maintenance. Do we have a Road Maintenance & Management Authority overseeing road network maintenance?

One of their tasks includes the responsibility; to regulate the activities of developers and small enterprises in relation to their highways and roads, to stop or avoid encroachment into road reserve space. This is to avoid demolition of homes and business structures leading to financial loss.

In Mombasa, the Kwa Hola,-Kaloleni -Port Reitz road in Changamwe was rehabilitated by…The Kenya Rural Roads Authority.
I was like Huh??? Shouldn’t that be the job of KURA or Joho??? What is a rural Roads Authority doing in Mombasa???

why is it that the development of roads in Nakuru is only done in the East? what criteria is used to single out west???
very sad
