Vinci will charge you to use the road …
Nairobi – Mau Summit Highway valued at KSh 181.5 billion (€1.6 billion) to be paid in 30 years.
and the same Frenchies will operate and maintain Southern Bypass - pole Subaru and VW TSI boys no more night runs (more money siphoned out)
Very soon we will be taxed kutembea .
It’s about time we had toll infrastructure projects, it will separate peasants and birrionaires and decongest the city. Plus hiyo ya southern bypass is just maintenance.
uplift peasants livelihood and peace will prevail otherwise one day the peasants will have nothing to eat and they will turn to the fat ,pot bellied , gout infested birrioneas and things will be thick.
This road will cost almost 1 billion per kilometre and that does include cost of purchasing any parcel of land that might be required.Any land compensation will require the govt to dig into its almost empty pocket.
But why are will still building roads that don’t factor in mass transport - light rail or BRT .Look at Ngong road full steam and no provision even some things kama u turns are mediocre .Angalia Outering no provision for such in future .Tuliwakosea wapi Mkuki to pay top dollar for such developments.
That is not the main issue as it is clear as day in the contract, what we should be worried about is what are the French taking at the end of the day? Rest assured tutaumizwa in more ways than one!
The SGR contract’s details still remain a speculation upto now, but everybody has a bad feeling about it.
This is comparable to a kunguru who has multiple partners/“sponsors” and each is waiting eagerly to chunisa us skuma bila lube! The Britons, the Americans, the Chinese and now the French??!!
