Jubilee Development: Likoni cable cars project.

The Austrian-based company Doppelmayr Group will start construction in May after the government settled on the contractor for the Sh5.8 billion
Construction will take two years with commuters expected to start enjoying cable car services from 2020.
Trapos Limited, who are the sponsors of the project, and the Kenya Ferry Services (KFS) signed the concession agreement of the multi-billion shilling project last December.

Zitakua zinanuka Mayambo na jasho.

North, South, East, West. Kila mahali in Jubilee Development. :D:D:D:D:D:D:D

Good its moving forward. There will be 25 cable cars, each carrying 40 people across the channel in 4 minutes. It will carry 125000 people at peak times. Cable car, ferry and Bridge will all complement each other.

Shenji!
Kwani wathii wa Mombasa hawaogi

The bridge earlier proposed could have been better than cable cars.

Naona utakuwa unavukisha trela bado kwa ferry or how will they go about it?

Plans for the bridge are at an advanced stage too, like @spear has said, the two will complement one another. But i think kwa cable car mtalipa blue

Thought it’s something like this down here. Remember the thread last year?

Exactly, more landmarks for Mombasa, the iconic mapembe will take a back seat

Bora maintenance iwe tops. We non-swimmers fear the prospect of falling into water. I can spend a month in Mombasa without setting foot in the ferry.
All the same, great work.

Then wawache upussy wa cables and have a well laid footpath. It’s nonsense to have cables for commuters and the bridge for vehicles only.

Huyo governor wa huko atapinga hii mambo kama kawaida yake.

True, JICA has presented the updated expanded Likoni bridge project to both Mombasa and Kilifi county. Its no longer just a bridge but a bypass road connecting Dongo Kungu bypass the bridge and the road ends in Mombasa island. 12.5 Kilometers. The spiral bridge was dropped after various feedback in public participation. Truck drivers complained the curve is too steep and unnecessary for their load. Its would be best to avoid potential problems for a costly project.

Makwele (jipapa) is hated for suggesting pedestrians to pay 2 bob to use the ferry when he was transport minister. Hoho akipinga atajichimbia kaburi la sahau

wakenya mnatakanga nini? these two complement each other, and are beneficial to the coastal economy in the long run.

And both will be built by PPP not public funds. The investor builds, operates, charges and maintains it at their cost for 25 years before handing it over to Government. We have everything to gain. As a passenger you decide accordingly to your pocket, desire or need. Ferry, cable car or bridge. If you want free use the pedestrian footpath on the bridge, swim or develop wings to fly.

Cable cars za nini na bridge inakuja

ES achaga kutuangusha saa zingine

Watch this video from the same investor who has been picked to it here in Likoni. They complement each other perfectly. However the cable car has some adventure attached to it. Its going to be a hit for locals and tourists.

How many cable cars will be needed to transport thousands and thousands o people per day. Huo ni upuss. Watengeneze brigde kwanza. The cable itumike for fun cz haiwezi work

Do the math, that’s like 15K people crossing every hour, not bad in my view
