Can the naked eye tell the difference between 1080p, 2k and 4k videos?? I have downloaded 720p and 1080p vids and saw that the difference wasn’t that big especially in a scene where there is lots of light or day scenes. But I ain’t sure if I was right to make that conclusion since I viewed both vids on the same screen. The screen manual states the TV is capable of resolutions upto 2k.

Then I haven’t managed to get 2k vids, am sure they run prolly upto 10GB for a 2hr long vid and I usually survive on Safaricom MBs, very expensive for a hustler. So with the reasons above, am pretty sure am not placed in a position to conclude the difference between the mentioned resolutions.

There are many variables and unknowns in this qn but I will attempt:

  1. Most Downloaded content is normally compressed already so quality is compromised. Get the blue ray disks and experience better quality
  2. The screens we are watching from have not been calibrated for optimal viewing.
  3. With constant viewing your naked eye learns to tell the difference. Similar queries existed since the migration from SD to 720p

for me between 720p & 1080p yes, between 1080p and 2K not so much unless ni side by side comparison

Systems playing Blu Ray Discs are expensive so that’s for another day. As for SD and 720p, only a blind person couldn’t tell the difference. Then I’ve realized another factor comes in here, screen size. A SD vid will look clear on a 5.5" device but blurry on a larger device. I know its all about the pixels. Can the same be said about viewing a 720p/1080p vid on normal house screens, thats 32-70 inches, and 2k/4k vids in cinemas??

I thought 1080p = 2K, ama? In marketing, 720p is what they call HD, 1080p full HD.

First, calibrate your screen for optimal viewing. The differences are there to a keen eye and in a well calibrated screen. Lcdtvbuyingguide.com has calibration settings for very many models which one can use as a guide.

4K effect is most noticeable with short viewing distances.

If your TV supports 1080p u will definitely notice the difference if u play 720p movie but if ua screen doesn’t support 1080p when u play 1080p video the TV automatically scales it to 720p
