Just Discovered This - People Who Have a Hard Time Sleeping Before Midnight and Waking Up Early in The Morning

For as long as long as I can remember, I’ve always had a hard time sleeping before midnight and waking up the normal time like 5 a.m to 6 a.m like everybody else. That’s why I hate the 9-5 job. Even in boarding, I was always late for morning preps. However, I’m quite the opposite during the ‘ungodly’ hours when my mind tends to be very active.

No matter how hard I try to sleep before midnight and wake up at the crack of dawn, eventually, I always revert back to my regular routine. Nowadays, I prefer to sleep at 4 a.m and wake up at 11 a.m.

Now back to my discovery. Apparently, it turns out there is something called the “delayed sleep phase disorder” (BSPD). Hence, being a “morning person” or “evening person” is a behavioral consequence of a person’s underlying circadian rhythm, which is shaped by their genes. At least 15 percent of children and adults have BSPD.

People with DSPD may improve their quality of life by choosing careers that allow late sleeping times, rather than forcing themselves to follow a conventional 9-to-5 work schedule.

very informative…

I’m sure most of the SJ and K-Street hosts suffer from the BSPD syndrome.

I go to bed between 00:30 - 01:30 AM , and sleep evades me at around 6 am

For me I go to sleep at 10pm and 2am am up.

hahaha. Hii sijawahi skia

Not a disorder just a workaholic…

What about people who are completely unable to sleep at night?

What about those who force themselves to sleep like me. It’s usually past midnight something like 0030-0045hrs for me and around 6am am up!

I sleep at around 10pm and wake up @ 6.am, na bado usingizi hunitembelea 2pm mchana.

I have a friend who sleeps at 11 a.m in the morning and wakes up at 5 p.m. Ni si ati yeye ni watchman.

That’s normal. I usually eat my supper at midnight or 1 a.m.

Hahaha funny thing there is a time I stayed awake whole 24hrs+ and at no time did sleep overwhelm me

And also find it hard to sleep during the day to compensate.

Avoid using devices an hour before you sleep. It has an effect on your brain and the end result is you lose sleep. TV and overhead lights should be off 2 hours before you sleep. When you get used to it, then you can shorten the times. I sleep by 10pm mostly and by 4.30am to 5pm I’m awake whether I’m off or not. Ukilala sana hiyo ni umaskini inakutafuta. At 8pm the lights are dimmed as we take supper. By 9pm the TV and devices are off as the kids go to bed. Its now slow music, tea and a book. By 10pm we are in bed as well. I’m a teacher/farmer son so waking up early was engraved on us at a young age.

Oteni jua. Your circadian rhythm is ultimately dictated by the position if the sun in the sky. Exposing yourself to the sun regularly during the day helps regulate the rhythm.

Also, try to eat early, by 8pm latest, last meal. It really helps with getting sleep earlier.

As@spear has said up here, avoid simu na monitors before bed ama weka app inaitwa Twilight kwa simu na Flux kwa PC. They filter out blue light if your phone doesn’t already have this feature. The blue light mimicks some if the suns spectrum of light and lies to your body that it should be awake because it’s ‘daytime’. Daytime bonoko.

What about us that sleep at 7am and wake up at noon…hehe. My schedule is proper inverted and my nosy neighbors are always trying to investigate what I do that keeps me up that late. They should mind their own business.

I sleep at 3am, wake up at 5, go back to sleep at 7 till 1pm. In the past used to sleep at 10-11pm and was up by 4 with no problem. I believe it’s all how one conditions his body.

Kuamka 11 ? Hauna job na unaishi kwa mathe?

insomnia is my best friend anxiety my first cousin so nikilala 4hrs mimi hushukuru

Unadhani kila mtu anafanya 9 to 5? I used to work 9 to 5 but I quit after a few months. Nowadays I run my businesses and set up my working hours at my convenience.

At the end of the month, I make more than most people working 9 to 5.
