K.U Unicity Mall

Currently at K.U Unicity Mall. The place is vacant as expected, but now Family Bank and Equity Bank have branches there. I think this is a smart move by the University to redirect traffic to the mall. Kwa wenye fearshara, I highly suggest scouting for space there because with those branches, traffic will increase gradually.

Wasee…ni banks tu Equity na Family bank. The other stalls are vacant. Ndio naambia the talkers in retail kuna opportunity huko juu najua traffic kwa hiyo mall itapanda with those two new branches. Those in retail are likely to get space there at 50 cents on the dollar juu government or institutions kama K.U dont usually overcharge tenants for facilities. If I was in retail, I would seize that opportunity juu anchor tenants washaanza biz huko. Traffic will follow

Hio mall na juja mall ziko na potential kubwa sana

I you said tuskey or Uchumi or even Naivas have opened a branch there, your observations would have made sense.

Yeah, I agree. Let’s not sit there and laugh at KU for building Unicity Mall. It’s a good idea to support our very own…so those who can afford to set-up business over there just go ahead and we will come shopping.

Lets compare notes in 1 year or less. Banks can also drive traffic to a mall, especially Equity.

Britam or equity or Mwangi himself contributed to the fund

rent ya stall ni pesa ngapi nifungue juice parlour

This will not translate to sales for the mall. Bank customers are usually not passive shoppers wa kutafuta the best quality tissue paper.

Majority ni kuchomoa pesa and on to the next shughuli, probably not within the mall . Agency banking has also ensured banks halls are empty nowadays

The mall culture is declining. No millenial wants to shop in malls. Besides, prosperous malls like Two Rivers and Yaya tend to be located in high-density, affluent or tourist markets…not student areas like Juja and KU

Wacha uongo. You only need to find fun things that will keep millenials engaged within a mall and they’ll come. Kama hapo KU ukaweze weka vitu kama 7D studios I am sure unaweza okota okota.

plus location on the superhighway is not doing them any favours. exit iko far

A mall without an anchor tenant (Supermarket) is useless.
No one will drive all the way to Unicity looking for a perfume shop.
In most Nairobi malls, the small shops survive because of supermarket traffic overflow.

As a Millenial, I disagree. Simply add extra things to do at the mall except shopping and we will be there. Think of how Mall of America has re-invented itself and has survived even as other malls in the US have died.
For example.I would prefer convenience. A parking app so that I know which slots are available the moment I go past the gate. Online shopping where I can come and simply pick and go at the physical store itself. Mall events clearly outlined. Fine dining(not just fast food dining) and one very important trend.Have outpatient hospital offices there. These are rapidly becoming major drivers of traffic

Can a club and restaurant that stock fairly priced food and drinks work towards driving more traffic towards that mall? What is the kind of population around KU like? That Kahawa area always sounds like a big brothel, fully patronized by randy students and soldiers. Ama I am imagining my own things!!!
