There are several organized violent criminal gangs in Kisumu today courtesy of Luo politicians who use them to intimidate their opponents. China gang, US Marine, Baghdad Boys, 42 Brothers the list is endless but the above are the most lethal ones.
Shortly before the March 2013 General Election, the gangs terrorised residents as they fought for supremacy in the name of the political parties they supported.
They are feared to be rearing their heads ahead of the 2017 General Election. Their bases are Manyatta, Kondele, Daraja Mbili, Kibuye and Ojolla estates. On weekdays they are touts, weekends they are professional mourners and gangsters at night. The Govt commisioned a research five years ago to get to the bottom of how these gangs operate and their social behaviors. Some recommendations were made to the relevant authorities but the then PM thrashed them The gangs drags you outta your house, hacks and sends you to your maker for no apparent reason…
