I have decided to start keeping Kuku as a side hustle. I have already ordered for 50 kari improved chicks from a farmer and hope to start by end of this month.
I would appreciate any advice or comments to add to my not so good experience in this venture!
After 3 months make your own feeds using crushed maize “njenga” na omena.
Mix them utapata mayai na zita add weight.

I hope you welcome both positive and negative input to this.
Buying chicken feed is very expensive and will take all your profit easier way is during harvesting buy gunia mbili za mahidi because they are cheap during harvest time.
Then buy omena 70 kgs pelekea @Mundu Mulosi poshomill operator, tell him to grind them rough.
Pia sukuma wiki put them in plastic bag na ufunge, after one week kausha kwa jua na usiage tu kwa mkono uwe unamix kiasi na hio chakula.
Your nutrition content is higher than layers feed and you will be smiling all the way to the bank
Follow vaccination schedule to the letter!! Otherwise you may wake up to 50 dead birds when a disease strikes.
Na usithani you get rich anytime, those fuckers eat like they are possesed hence cutting into your profit, fatten them up quickly as told hapo juu and sell them with haste
MBWA - Management By Walking Around on a daily basis.
Kindly make sure you visit a poultry farm near near you and seek advice, you will also be able to see what they do.
Negative feedback is most welcome…bado ni feed back!
Nikianza na plan kuenda Port victoria kununua ile omena dust
I second this, if possible stay with them for a week for hands-on experience.
Ata nairobi na karatina inauzwa
Don’t buy from just any farmer. Most of them crossbreed them with some kienyeji breeds that have unwanted characteristics like small sizes, eggs etc which lowers the quality.
Go to KARI or call them for purebreed. They supply them from their Naivasha site.
Kienyeji chickens si ni zile zinatembea kila mahali? Zangu zinaingia hadi sitting room kutega mayai na kulalia
Are you factoring in market dynamics?
You might not be able to sell them as fast as you wish when they attain the correct weight.
hehe, niko na kisiagi ya njenga. ile unazungusha lever na mkono ikitoa crushed maize
