Kenyan Deejays are suffering

These people are used to receiving hundreds of thousands every week. Most of them are now jobless. They used to flaunt their expensive rides instead of investing their money. After lockdown, most moved to social media for live mixes but nowadays I don’t see them. It seems mixing the same songs to a sober audience is very hard and most of them gave up.

:D:D kwanza hapo pa “sober audience”

all the same… no one really has the zeal to keep us entertained… ni kama ata wao wamechoka

watu sober hawatambui Dj’s?

Over the weekend we met one. He told us he mixes live on Facebook targeting Kenyans and Americans. But he admitted that no more than two people join. I don’t mean to laugh but I found it funny :D:D:D

But wenye utegemea @Starscream are not suffering juu Somer na relax inn mziki iko kwa flash. Na hizi area bado wanauza murāmbī?

SWIM OR DIE …hata mimi kuna siku kazi ili isha 2018 alafu a very good friend of mine aka ni chocha ana ni connect na job he even had me drafting job responsibilities from my CV to suit the job to be advertised and went MUTE after I made the application long story short niccuh employed his girlfriend’s brother nka baki mataani nikivuta bangi na kunywa Konyagi haha to end the story I learnt to swim…

:D:D:D thats the problem… no one is willing to litsen for 20-30mins

Me too,:D:Dnacheka Sana

You find one is still mixing yet there are barely 10 viewers watching

They probably forgot to read the memo which says we all need real jobs… :D:D:D:D

natafuta hizo mixing decs nibuy. i want to learn how to be a dj just for the love of the art. nangoja wale dj watasota waniuzie

Actually most of these DJs just have a laptop loaded with music and then connect it to the DJ machines which are mostly owned by the clubs/establishments. If you have been keen enough, (since most clubs have different music days, so there is a different dj for everyday) you will notice these djs will just come with a backpack… no equipment for real.

Djs wamesota ni wale full time wa clubs, na big names kwa TV juu zile gigs za sato zenye huwalipa haziko.

Me niko sawa, rent sijawahi default. Ata sahii nalewa tu mos mos KC nikisoma hizi comments zenu za umeffi.

Utangoja Sana. Machines mostly huwa za establishments na DJ schools/sound hire.

Ukiona mtu anauza, he is upgrading, not selling because he is broke.

kama ni kununua, nunua mpya.

DJ Crème de la Crème has decided to relocate to Kericho. He says life is cheap there compared to Nairobi. I saw him 2 months ago driving a very shiny Landrover discovery KCX. Its true Covid has shown this industry dust. I have a side hustle in the entertainment industry & since Jan sijapata hata ndururu. But I believe we shall rise.

It comes to the mode of pay. The DJs were charging the clubs. Clubs in return were charging the patrons( drinks, entrance fee). The problem with the DJs is that they are trying to charge FB. When you try to Dj on FB, you go against competitors from the whole world who are 100 times better. And some of them have an established following already. There are some really creative DJs on FB. I listen to the Kenyan ones and those too all the time.

Si huko ndio kwao

Wamix mavideo fb. Si ku tingisha kinyambis for 2 hours kwa decks
