North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has ordered front-line military units to enter "a wartime state" after an exchange of fire with South Korea, his country's state-run Korean Central News Agency reported Friday.
The announcement, employing bellicose language typical of North Korea, adds to the edgy situation in the region.
The two sides traded artillery fire over their heavily fortified border on Thursday afternoon, according to the South Korean Defense Ministry.
Two shells came from the North Korean side, the ministry said, and South Korea fired dozens of shells in respons

this guy reminds me of the local Instagram Kids who have attention issues and go around creating trouble thinking they are getting the attention their dads didnt give them when they were young. to their dismay , they are wasting their life away. Ya Kim its even worse, he is playing with real lives and the dad who he wants to get attention of is dead. Double Trouble.

Television Committee of the DPRK).
Radio and TV sets in North Korea are supplied pre-tuned to North Korean stations and must be checked and registered with the police, though some North Koreans own Chinese radios which can receive foreign stations. It is prohibited to tune into foreign broadcasts.

Why doesn't he just pull the trigger and have the nearby F-22's eliminate his command structure and alleviate the suffering of North Koreans

That would be huge proxy war between the US and China and would probably spill over to other places. Or worse people go crazy and nuke each other.

I would but you'll go running back to CNN and BBC to swallow their propaganda. For example, when someone says that the a few fighter planes could easily destroy one of the most armed nuclear nations, it's plain stupid. If they could they would have done it but now.

Agreed why should people here think they can castigate Kim for his stand on global politics while they can barely understand the nonsense that's local politics?

There is a reason why north korea never attacks the south or indeed anyone the keep threatening. They know very well they are full of hot air. I can assure you they will never attempt it. They would be wiped out. Again no one is interested in starting a fight with them and that is why even the US has never really bothered to start anything significant because of the regard for south koreas safety apart from the occasional war of words at the UN security council of which they know china has a veto. Having a nuclear weapon is one thing. Having the capability to effectively launch and deliver them to your enemy in a war is quite anotherdaunting thing altogether.

True. delivery is harder than making them. it is said that given materials, almost any country can make a nuclear fission bomb because it is simple to construct compared to thermonuclear weapons, but safety and delivery is another animal altogether. Even saddam had missiles in 2003, but they were shot down before they arrived to targets.

Its the same thing with having a large army. It requres a lot of coordination, command and control plus very big logistics. Otherwise you wont even know where they are. A million plus soldiers once your C&C structures are knocked down becomes totally useless and tyranny of confussion sets in

this a proxy war, south Korea has put many loud speakers at the border to broadcast propaganda to north koreans. This has provoked north and is demanding them to stop. in the meantime south is having a joint military training with US in case of an attack. To me South is being used to by uncle sam to fight north govt

It started when two south korea soldiers who were on patrol at thw border were injured by a landmine. South korea accused the north of planting the mine and so the exchange began. US was not there

That has been so for years and its not about to change. The only reason why the US never attacks N. Korea is because they know to save their skin the north would attack the south in a desperate attempt at stopping their pounding. They might just throw that random nuclear missile to Seoul and succeed at it. So a cost benefit analysis shows its not worth it. But were the north to preempt a serious strike at the south they wouldnt know what hit them as it would be inevitable to finish them. Also politics at the UNSC have shielded north korea all this time.

FYI, CNN and BBC are not the only international news stations covering the conflict, so your presumptions are wrong. Kama North Korea is that good, why don't I see people lining up in their embassies to go and enjoy that goodness? It is no secret that it is a backward state that has failed to catch up and still hangs on to the bygone cold war era that has little relevance in the present global environment.
