Kinyozi (Barbershop)

Mboyz wangu mmoja huko majuu … asked me for some advice about setting up a kinyozi hapa Kenya. Well having no idea about the biz I told him I will have to take it under advice myself. So I’m here consulting with ktalk consulting agency. Any know how’s. … Pro’s and cons ? Budget yake amesema ni kendo 1m.

i know there is executive vinyozi, but 1mill kwa kinyozi then you compete na mtu alitumia 10k to setup his

Hapo vile umesema … lazima ni mshow hiyo pesa yake … Si ya kinyozi huku.

In the US, the barbershop is a big deal. Hapa hata chini ya mti watu wananyoana…na nacet na kichana peke yake:D

pros:

  1. Steady cash flows
  2. low operating costs
  3. easy to set up and manage equipment and premises

Con’s:

  1. Staff turnover can be a headache
  2. Thanks to how easy it is to set up expect lots of competition and copy cats
  3. Difficult to track revenues collected by staff
  4. frequent power outages, generator Ni muhimu.

Note:
Don’t just rush to actualize this idea, you need a plan to address this fundamental issues:
-Your target market
-Suitable products for this target market
-Staff to meet whatever standards and targets you set.
-Control systems to minimize wastage and pilferage

If he can find a suitable location make it executive, with some big screens, plush sofas w/fine attendants. Throws in a free carwash.

Location location location. Shida ni, the locations that will get him a good footfall and turnover, 1m haifiki hata nusu ya goodwill.

Salon and the likes are a more viable for a bigger than average budget in my opinion. Hapa hatuna hiyo nywele kama mikia ya farasi inahitaji skilled work with scissors, and definitely no much distinction when it comes to barbers.

An executive salon can do, and advice him to put a ktalk VIP muchene corner for akina @This is Gold na wenzake. He cant go wrong on this.

kinyozi and guys pay 200-300 pa head, and customers turnup twice a month only, when will he payback his 1m… hapo atajibinja, ask him to try a gym or salon, executives, they can pay back soon

Kenyans and goodwill…last month I was looking for premises to set something up…and I was asked for goodwill of an outrageous amount…and mind you it was a new building…I tried explaining to the agent mañana ya goodwill according to our business classes hata no mate nilipoteza tu…anyway I approached a professional managenment agent ie Knight Frank na hao hawakuwa na hio upuzi…Mimi nitakujibu advice when you are looking for premises don’t use this jus Kali letting agents…look for the pros in the business it’s the same cost

It’s even more ridiculous downtown when guys ask for 3m plus with a straight face, no blinking. New building.

But that’s how the system works. I sold mine and got out. And I still had to pay an ‘agent’ 6 figures because ‘amenitafutia customer’.

A good industrial grade 2nd hand treadmill goes for 250k minimum. Bado location, bado any other piece of equipment. Bado hata sabuni ya shower, yenye bado hajatengeneza hata.

We have gotten the whole goodwill thing twisted…in my understanding it’s Just a thank you gesture sio that’s it’s compulsory and it’s to be paid the the previous business tenant of that premises…sio to the agent or landlord…and it definitely should not be charged in a new building…siku hizi hata goodwill is more than the rent that is being charged

There is this stupid trend that has started where brokers go and get the choicest locations in s new building…don’t run any business there…and then they give it out immediately so that wapate hio goodwill

executive barber shops make huge returns. 1M hata ni kidogo for an ultra executive barbershop. kushave then shampoo then massage and add ons such as hair dying manicure pedicure full massage. utapata doo. kuna moja mimi hienda tao na inakuanga full we have to queue or book in advance. cost of operation ya barbershop is minimal so returns are ok.
