The process will be done following an earlier notice last month on May 5.
“Deregistration/Cancellation of Tax Obligations is in accordance with Section 36(5) of the VAT Act, 2013 and section 10(5) of the Tax Procedures Act, 2015,” read the statement.
However, the taxman has provided guidelines for individuals who wish to re-activate their VAT Obligations.
The taxpayer is mandated with the task of applying for re-activation to the commissioner through their respective tax service office. The application should indicate the reason for re-activation.
The taxpayer will be expected to provide any document in question by the Tax Service Office.
Individuals who have been filing nil VAT returns will be expected to demonstrate to the commissioner their need for VAT obligations.
Upon re-activation, the taxpayer will have to file missing VAT returns as well Nil VAT returns making sure they are up to date. They will also have to make payment of the outstanding VAT liability.
To avoid deregistration in the future, taxpayers are advised to comply with the set rules and guidelines.

Why not wait until the country opens up fully ?

Nonsense.

What’s the beef with those filing nil ?

hii ushuru ukiangalia kwa ukaribu imeundiwa maskini

Personal PIN for most people without formal employment is useless. Peasant farmers, nomadic pastoralists, matatu crew, hawkers have no use for PIN.

What you are reporting.

What KRA is actually doing. Deregistration of tax obligation, NOT Pin number. That’s why bonobos fail exams. Comprehension issues.

Where did you go to school?

Huyu Gathecha ati anadai ukuwe unampatia tano wewe ubaki na elfu nne… is how now?

Government relief programs, like school bursary should be connected to one’s PIN.

The KRA public notice as published in newspapers today talked of deregistration of inactive tax obligation. Simply means if for example you are VAT registered and you don’t file VAT returns or consistently file nil under your VAT obligation, that VAT obligation is deregistered from your PIN.
Your PIN will not be deregistered. I honestly don’t understand why you twist the narrative to imply PIN number deregistration unless you have comprehension issues.

Leta hiyo KRA Public Notice hapa.

We are both reading what’s reported. You don’t work for KRA, do you? You don’t own KRA, do you?

Read this as reported and Wacha Ujinga.

Mimi ni mhuni. I own through proxy. Ushuru silipi.

Farming also allows you to make decent money encumbered by the need of the vexacious KRA PIN.

That you do not understand that every Kenyan owns the national institutions, defeats the purpose of your input.

Maybe once Kenyans start assuming ownership of their country’s institutions then and only then they can hold all those corrupted officials accountable.

How can you be deregistered from what you own, my fren…

Kenya inawenyewe and u and me are not one of them.… accept and move on.

You are quoting gutter press. Thought you are abit sophisticated!
