Wakubwa, I have this problem I inadvertently created some years back. I registered a business name, registered for VAT and kawaida that means now as a sole proprietor you carry the VAT everywhere. Thing is I never did any business with that name, and so I was told to compile documentary evidence, bank statements nini nini. I have done that but when I attached the business certificate copy as part of the documents, they told me I have to close the business name. Ask anyone at Sheria house how complicated that is. Can one upgrade it to a limited company (which is easier) then apply for it its own PIN number effectively telling the taxman the business is now on its own anitolee VAT kwa personal PIN? Wale wanajua hii mambo, how easy or hard is it?
NB: am not yet on iTax and that is why I want it removed so that I can start on a clean slate…
Enda KRA. Hii sio big deal. Ukipata mtu mpoa atakutolea on the spot. If you land a corrupt person lazima akuzungushe kwanza ndio akutolee hiyo VAT obligation.
Apply for cessation of the business name hapo Sheria. Ikisha enda thru, peleka matokeo KRA with a cover letter explaining sh!t. I think they ll be human enough to free u from the VAT obligation. Ukishamaliziwa enda uapply biz name/ltd name ingine Sheria. Hiyo ya kuincorporate biz name ikiwa na mashida hawatatoa juu i guess ull still be a or the director/shareholder there.
