Lonely Universe

Doesn’t it just sadden you a bit that in one of the estimated +100 billion galaxies there could be planets with intelligent beings? And the planets are close to each other and these beings freely and easily interact across planets, sharing fantastic technology… and we are here lonely, billions of light years away, sending radiowaves into space hoping someone will respond? …And no one will ever respond in our existance because by the time the response comes it will be millions or even billions of years late.

Insignificant Ants

I imagine that in several billion years into the future an intelligent being in a far corner of the Universe will point a telescope-like instrument to the sky and, through it, see a bright light from our sun. Light that travelled for billions of years from a star that is long dead. And they will chart it on their astronomy drawings and name it Nova or another lovely name.

Almost everything we see in the night sky is what was millions of years ago. We are now living in the history of the Universe. At present, we are long dead and gone; almost never existed to begin with.

Awesome Weekend

Scientists are now resigning to the fact that we could be alone in the entire universe which doesn’t have an outer boundary. Life existence on earth could be as a result of a very very rare accident

Ours will eventually be a sad story.

Actually the odds that we arent alone are much higher if you look at exoplanets in the goldilocks zone.
This figure of planets that could possibly have life goes up even higher when you consider that the core elements life as we know it is made up of i.e hydrogen, oxygen, carbon and nitrogen are the most abundant elements in the universe.

What scientists are resigned to is the communication between other lifeforms. The distance between planets and solar systems is bad enough let alone between galaxies. Compound this with the differing level of either civilization before you even get to language.

I think its quite early too for the universe to have developed so many complex forms of life. The universe is 14 billion years which to me seems short for the kind of complexity and size. Given that 14 billion is easily countable while the size of the universe is almost immeasurable.

Blue dot.

by the time we reach type III civilization i wonder how earth will be like

What about Nibiru ?

How do you figure? The age of the life on this planet is insignificant in comparison to the age of other planets and galaxies let alone the universe.

14 billion years is a fucking long time. Consider this, when you turn around 31yrs old you will been around for 1billion seconds!

Last estimate i heard is that the (observable) universe has 10sextillion stars…thats a 10 with 21 zeros after it. That number is so big that its ridiculous.

There are two probabilities that really excite me:
1. We are alone
Through the biochemical accidents of the primordial times, we came to be. The assumption is that we won the existential lottery i.e the conditions were just right for the emergence of Life.
2. We are NOT alone
By virtue of the sheer number of galaxies (hundreds of billions of them in the OBSERVABLE universe), it is rather plausible that Life exists in other parts of the universe. Even a very pessimistic confidence of 0.00000000001, there is a chance of a habitable system somewhere out there.
The second probability is what is rather interesting:
[ul]
[li]We are too far out to see/hear/detect the presence other civilizations.[/li][li]Other civilizations do NOT want to be detected[/li][li]Other civilizations have not yet advanced to our level.[/li][/ul]
Think about this:
[ul]
[li]The earth is 4 Billion years old, the universe is 14 billion years old. What if a planet out there formed 5 or 6 billion years ago. What would life be like there, considering they had over 1 billion years or more to evolve?[/li][/ul]

This thread gave me chills. But its weird that all the above comments y’all don’t believe in the Supreme being Sir Jah and He is responsible for all these unexplain-able ish

some things cant be explained for now.

atheismo should bring his own argument now and reggea gospelers

When will they ever learn
