Some China/Japan>> Dubai>>Kenya OR

China/Japan>>Dubai>>Yemen>>Somalia>>Eastleigh>>Kenya(Luthuli)

Shimo gani Easich ina vitu (electronics) origi?

Ukisema Origi unamaanisha? Coz almost 90% of any electronic device is made in China. Hata hizo LEDs. Nothing comes from (eg) Sony Japan.

Zile si counterfeits.

nimecheki alibaba hakuna branded tvs kama samsung sony ama lg

Yes. Most are imported from shaina or gotten from authorized local dealers.
Samsung dealer is samsutech while LG dealer is hotpoint appliances.

What they sell us at Luthuli and Eastleigh is what, in business, is known as Grey Market! The goods sold there are not necessarily counterfeit but their genuineness cannot be guaranteed by the manufacturers, neither are they given warranty! The reason being that the goods were not meant for this market.

Problem is if you wanted a Sony TV and went to dealers, the prizes are way too high. You will find the same item at Luthuli avenue with almost half the price , us being Kenyans, we will buy as long as it works

Saudi Arabia>>> Kenya
Importer>>> Dahabshil & Co.
How do they afford to sell at prices lower than local dealers?? Dahabshil Saudi Arabia receive money from guys sending it back to Kenya, they use the money to buy TV’s etc… at very low prices ,as is the norm in Saudia, they send the electronics to the local Dahabshil who then sell the TV’s to River Road merchants at throw away prices to recover they money that they gave to guys that came to receive money sent from Saudia.

The seller may want to please you for the sake of tomorrow. There was a time Samsung asked people to register their devices and I tried to register my Galaxy S Advance which I bought from a shop behind GPO, Mombasa. They politely declined to register it saying the device is a Grey Market Product, but an original product!

They buy them in UAE and ship them to Kenya and evade Tax.I once bought a TV in Dubai, paid for shipping(air freight) and picked the cargo in Eastleigh without any duty.In total i saved more than 20k.

Was it African Salihiya that brought you the product?

Plausible. Once upon a time I bought a Sony home theatre that was apparently not intended for the African market and thus the manual was in Arabic. I had to go to the Sony website to get the manual in English.
