It’s a all a matter of personal preference though many manufacturers are moving more towards producing automatics more than manual.

performance of manuals and autos will vary in different models, all transmissions are not built equal.

Almost all race cars are manual transmission. Take what you will from that

I think this argument is about 15 years old , Autos have come along way and anybody still preferring manual is just for sentimental rather than performance issues, unless you are talking about high performance or rally cars !

Ever realized manuals are cheaper than automatic, there is a reason behind it. Demand!!! Meaning that automatic dictates high demand and there is a reason why it does that. Kizuri chajiuza, kibaya…

Not in Kenya. For (almost) all Japanese commercial cars I’ve seen, manual is more expensive than auto, and auto consumes more than manual (a difference of KES 800-1200 for a 500km journey).

Autos for comfortable driving. For manual you have to do some work while driving all through and even maintain the clutch system. There is some built in inefficiency in autos because of the electric gearbox. This inefficiency is much lower these days. An auto gearbox is also less likely to fail because it is protected from poor driving skills. Most after market clutch plates are poor quality and will stall the engine or require riding a lot in order to engage smoothly

Hehe unakumbuka ukijichanganya about this topic @Mathaais , today you have played safe

Though nowadays i drive an auto my heart still belongs to manual transmission. Theirs very little that compares to the feeling of switching gears on a highway. The fact that manufacturers are still churning out manuals in 2017 still gives me hope

Since umespecify speed, manual wins. However, I prefer automatic for city life. Those who like manual should stop living in the 90’s

if predominantly driving long distances on a highway, a manual does it for me. If on start stop driving then auto any day. Second point… On 1500ccs and lower engines, a manual feels and performs better. The moment we get to 2000ccs and above. It really doesn’t matter much. Either will have the pull.

I asked on speed because on the Isuzu Kenya page they posted the interior photos of the dmax both manual and auto and asked which one guys prefer and both manual and auto owners said theirs is mightier…

You know men and their toys.
