Mau Forest doesn't make any sense at all.

You have all seen the vast size of that forest as seen from drones and helicopters; that land is MASSIVE! It is huge.

If those poor people cut down all those trees they would all be millionaires today. They wouldn’t be poor, in torn clothes and living in mud huts. And they wouldn’t use charcoal either wangekuwa watu wa gas. You don’t burn money. And they would be replanting those trees right now since it’s their wealth.

That narrative is not adding up. @langatkipro you are from that region did those families really cut down all those trees or did they buy empty plots of land?

Naturally those guys would be living in timber houses not decrepit mud huts.

And there would be so many related timber industries in that region. Hata kungekuwa na mall(s) huko. Timber is serious money!

The richest people in the U.S and Canada are timbermen. The very very wealthiest. Because trees like oil were given free from God without our efforts. But unlike oil you don’t need billions of dollars to mine trees! You just need an axe and strong hands!

The richest families in the U.S had their start in timber and pelts. The people in Mau Forest would be living in mansions today and when evicted they would leave the place in Mercs and Hiluxes… if indeed they cut down those trees.

Actually there would have been massive relocation of Kikuyus to Mau forest years ago. Mnajua okuyu na pesa?! Wangejaa huko zamani.

Mau would be reknowned for it’s wealthy citizens. And to cut down all those trees would take decades not a few years… where was the govt. when all that destruction was happening?

I put it here today that probably that place was cleared silently and SECRETLY over many years by the who is who and the land was then resold to paupers at cheap prices so the rich guys could hide their crimes and the paupers would take the blame.

Then today they want to evict the same paupers and resell the land! Remember even Ruto himself had a forest in Ngong during the Nyayo era. Most of these guys still own or owned forests.

Mau forest if the source of water which serves several counties. Molo river for example serves even Baringo county. The main cause of deforestation includes teamsales company owned by (uhunye) and other local politicians who sell the land and even have title deeds. The issue cant be reolved anytime soon just like corruption where tough statement is issued but no action.

Kuna hio na ile ingine Rai plywoods owned by the who is who. Na zingine kadhaa. Hata Biwott alikuwa na yake.

Were these people so greedy that they couldn’t even replant the area back then… ama that is the plan now?

Evict, replant it then resell the timber again? Who knows?

How can you compare timber sales in Kenya and that in the US, yet you know that a lot of the houses are constructed with wood and wood products.

It is also likely that they were not the first to encroach. The land was cleared of trees, sold and then the land grabbed. These guys came later.

Tutaheshimiana Nani. Uchunge vile unakuom kanyaga pole pole brathe.

Senior guys in the government clear the forest for timber. Hawa kina @langatkipro ni collateral damage.

People should move out of Mau. That is my statement. If i was the president i would see to it that happens . I am conservationist. I love the natural environment very much. If we do not save Mau we all going to be extinct in Kenya.

Timsales was dissolved btw

Its still in operation, just visit molo and you will see their trucks carrying logs

Of course they didn’t, Mau was ravaged mostly by Moi’s henchmen back then. But now that there is a push to restore the forest, those poor folk should get the hell out of the forest.

True ,the problem is,the person pretending to restore the forest is the same with interest to invest in the same.
