In the next couple of years all the coffee will be gone and the dams too.If only we could have given incentives for farming to take place there instead of building houses.
The stretch from what is now a Daykio development all the way to Gathage used to have 6 dams to irrigate coffee and macadamia. But the dams are receding and one has dried up.

I noticed too and felt pain that we are turning farms into stone buildings. I agree mkulima needs to be incentivized to prevent the trend.

Hizo sides ndio shags , i already have a pigsty and a hand dug well though not reliable but i foresee myself leaving the city and go back there and do some farming to cater to the population boom .Infact if you can get 2m to 3 m you can get a farm which is between 5km to 10 km from the so called gated community. One day drive up to a small town Kiamwangi or Kiganjo and you might change your mind regarding an 1/8 acre .

We are very peculiar people.Building on farm land and then buying some plots in Kajiado and having greenhouses.

Wacha tungoje 2030 when the bubble has burst.

I think the bubble will burst way before 2030.Most of what we have in the market is pegged at high price above what the biggest number can afford.
Technically there is no crop that we grow economically or at lower cost of production and this is made worse by the reduction in farm land in favour of housing.

Because peasants are the only one interested in farming. In kajiado the price is almost half that per unit. Look at Karen, where we have some good agricultural land but owners keep only horses

Nakumbuka a small Town inaitwa Kamwangi (or is it Kiamwangi?)…hizo side. Tulikuwa tunaenda drive na bro& mbuyu zamaaaani. Unapita Gakoe-Kiamwangi/Kamwangi-Ruiru-Mang’u…halafu unatokea Nrb-Nakuru highway. Though sijapitia in over 25yrs
