Meat and sweets offered to idols

So I have many moslem and hindu friends so on their holidays like Diwali and Idd I always get gifts, meat and sweets. You know the hindu sweets and cakes. So leo nime letewa miguu mbili ya mbuzi. I even had a cookout and called all my peeps tuchome. Now I am checking on FB there’s serious debate ati if you eat food offered to idols your destiny will be switched. What’s your position on this issue.

1 Corinthians 8:4-10.

So then, about eating food sacrificed to idols: We know that “An idol is nothing at all in the world” and that “There is no God but one.” 5 For even if there are so-called gods, whether in heaven or on earth (as indeed there are many “gods” and many “lords”), 6 yet for us there is but one God, the Father, from whom all things came and for whom we live; and there is but one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom all things came and through whom we live.
7 But not everyone possesses this knowledge. Some people are still so accustomed to idols that when they eat sacrificial food they think of it as having been sacrificed to a god, and since their conscience is weak, it is defiled. 8 But food does not bring us near to God; we are no worse if we do not eat, and no better if we do.
9 Be careful, however, that the exercise of your rights does not become a stumbling block to the weak. 10 For if someone with a weak conscience sees you, with all your knowledge, eating in an idol’s temple, won’t that person be emboldened to eat what is sacrificed to idols?

That should summarize it. It all comes down to your conscience now i guess.

Why don’t Christians ever have the spirit of sharing during Easter or christmas but are quick to accept and also criticise sharing.

Do they?

We share the most important and precious things that money cannot buy. Love and prayers. Whenever a moslem or hindu friend of mine is ill, they will ask for my prayers and they know I will get at least 2 more believers and we will pray and fast for their health. And for sure no matter how close they are to death, their health returns.

My case is serious because unless I physically saw you offering the food to idols I won’t refuse to eat it. I concur with the scripture. Personally I have alot of faith in God, so I sanctify the food b4 eating and I’m good. I read Psalms 91 and I am good. I have faith that God has my back I don’t know why all this fear Christians have of the devil. He can’t touch you unless God allows it, that is if you are God’s Child.

They do the same nothing special .

We don’t ask for their prayers because we know it is we who serve the living God. It’s like a wealthy guy asking a destitute one for financial help. It’s only that their communal lifestyle stops them from converting but they know from experience which prayer works most in dire situations. By the time a non Christian is asking a Christian for prayer, they have nothing left to lose. You have never been at the brink of death and lost hope then returned to good health miraculously. That’s why to you its nothing special. You have never looked death in the eye. Anyway we love them and pray for them to find God even if it’s on their deathbed. What fun is heaven if the people you loved on earth are not there?

In my case it doesn’t really bother me, i’ll always choose to eat it if it looks appealing. But it’s coz as aforementioned in Corinthians, I know an idol is nothing so whether the food is sacrificed or not i’ll still eat it.

But faith is a journey, it’s something that’s meant to grow over time. So i understand why some Christians, especially in their earlier years are very afraid of the devil, and rightfully so, I mean this is someone that caused chaos in heaven and has caused untold damage to the world.

as a muslim kutoa ni sadaqa hata kama its eid or anyday.

The Bible says, don’t fear those who can harm or kill the body, fear God who can destroy the soul. Here is the greatest reality, that the real you is your soul and your spirit, the body is just a tent. A temporary structure to enable you to function on earth.

Personally I believe that even if I eat something with poison unknowingly, it will not harm me. Anytime I’ve had food poisoning I immediately start throwing up and end up OK with no repercussions. It hardly takes an hour for me to realize what I ingested wasn’t OK. I get extremely ill. I throw up everything then I am completely fine. At times you can eat food that’s perfectly fine to you but once it’s in you, you realize that it’s not OK. I don’t know if this happens to other people but I have experienced such bad food poisoning that I could not climb a flight of stairs. I thought I was dying. Yet I prayed and slept on the sofa and was A OK the next morning. Needless to say I never ate anything from that place ever again. It was a plate of chips but it wasn’t fresh. It was from the fridge. Same to fried fish and cake and cheese sandwich.

So I see God intervention in the cases of food poisoning, I get ill almost immediately. I throw up and diarrhea and in few minutes I am as good as new. That’s why I am never worried.

Yeah I agree with all you’ve said…here’s the thing though. No doubt God is ALWAYS faithful and will see you through to the end, but sometimes that’s usually a very painful process. Satan sets his eyes on Job, and Job loses everything, his children, livestock, property, wife, by the time the devil is done with him he is left desolate and living in squalor with sores allover his skin, he had to use broken pieces of pots to scratch those itches. Now i know God is faithful and will see you to the end, but this is something you probably dont want to endure, you can’t really compare it to food poisoning. You see when Jesus is about to be delivered into the hands of those who will kill him, he cries to his Father and asks that if its possible He should remove this cup of suffering that awaits him. That’s fear. It’s a normal thing to be afraid of something that can harm you and cause you pain e.g the devil.

This is my opinion, i think by saying we should not be afraid, maybe the bible is telling us we shouldn’t give into fear? Like put aside God’s commands because of fear? Case in point, I’ve always been of the opinion all lives matter, even unborn kids, and us such have always been against abortion, but one time while in my undergraduate this girl i had a thing going on with tells me she is pregnant, and my first suggestion was abortion, i had made up my mind that we aborting it, turned out she was trying to trap me, but anyway you see in this case fear made me abandon my principles and everything i believed in, which shouldn’t be the case. Jesus too is afraid of the cup of suffering that awaits HIm and wants out, but He says He will do what God sees best, not him.

I think fear is normal, just don’t give into it.
