The National Assembly Investment Committee is surprised at how KICC CEO Nana Gecaga awarded contracts worth Ksh1.5 billion for the construction of a temporary structure at KICC.
The committee chairperson Abdullswamad Shariff expressed his shock that such an amount of money would be spent to build a temporary structure.
"Investing such an amount of money in a prefab is disturbing. On this one, they will just have to come and explain how it was done,” Shariff stated.

The proposed fabricated structure will serve as an exhibition center with the capacity to hold between 15,000 and 20,000 delegates.
According to documents seen by Nation, Ksh 799,015,957 will be used for the construction of the exhibition.
Civil works and furnishing will consume another Ksh700 million. The temporary structure is expected to be complete within six months.
The local daily also established that the project had not been budgeted for in the 2018/19 budget estimates.
The Public Finance Management Act states that any capital expenditure above Ksh5 million must be clearly stated in the budget of the procuring entity.
The land that is earmarked is also in contention because on January 31, a court barred KICC from doing any development on the land because it is unallocated government land.
The land is currently used as parking space for various state agencies, which have a valid lease
agreements with KICC.
They include Parliament, the Treasury, the Central Bank of Kenya, and the Public Procurement Oversight Authority.
