Morality VS Religion

At times one is often blinded by the furious pace of this world, the self righteous indignation of religious leaders; yet the general premise of behaviors exhibited by the public is morally wanting.
What a world it would be if we lived a moral upright path and relinquished all religions!

define “moral upright path”

You’re familiar with the seven cardinal sins, it’s more or less mirrored in The Poet Dante’s 9 circles of hell.
If we can use those points as a light house and dutifully steer clear from such tendencies?

the ones that are mentioned in Proverbs/Ecclesiastes? I know them.
You see where I’m going with this right?

Not necessarily, the sins were never the domain of religion. That’s why I mentioned Dante

so how do you know sin if it was never told to you by God? it would mean that Dante is the epitome of morality since he knew what the sins were and told us about it. No?

I think your definition of God is a standardized perception to explain the inexplicable, you do know there were paganistic records that recommended the noble effects of humbleness?
Also, there are modern day atheists who despite disbelieving the existence of a Supreme being are still kind people.

Morally man is a Pygmy…
technologically he’ll remain a giant

Pygmy you say, well at the very least he is down to earth.

which then assumes that that nature of kindness must have come from somewhere. or someone.
the aethist you speak of is not kind. he just looks it because he is espousing values that, to you, seem noble.
there is also the “religious” guy who is a mean, selfish, liar.
you can’t just “be” else you would exist in a vacuum.
how does the aethist know what kindness is? and how does the religious one know?
one of the “things” about that, is that from birth, there is a universal moral law/code that we are born into. we all know good and bad, right and wrong.
Dante couldn’t have been the one to determine that, and neither were the pagans. Dig deeper into the rituals of the pagans and you will see no moral upright path.

Tell me more about this universal moral code, please

i just did in the post above. we all know right and wrong even from an early age. a child will lie without ever being taught to do so (lying). when he is caught, he will deny and cry.
on the other hand, he will bring a sandal/stool/spoon to you and give it to you (kindness). you will smile and tell him thank you.

the moral code is in built in every human being. and it can only be supplied by a moral God. unfortunately, life happens and the lines get blurred.

We share a similar view on there being a moral code, but while I’m willing not to indulge in defining the source you stubbornly claim that God provided it.
It’s murky waters and it has bred a clan of dangerous and ignorant class

indeed. which is why i said life happens and lines get blurred. that’s where the ignorant class comes from.
they believe very much that they have all the answers, but reject the questions. it makes them feel very smart and also very knowledgeable.
they feed off each others’s answers and cement their beliefs in them.
the truth is, they’re non the wiser.

So it quite possible theists may actually be in the truth, while atheists in the dark and vice versa?

i believe aethists don’t want to be held to a higher moral standing than themselves; their own thinking. which is arrogant in my view.

I think your view of Atheism is flawed, not all are an arrogant and pretentious lot always attacking the Bible.
Most don’t even care for the Holy books and their flock

your looking at arrogant as an attitude expressed, not as an internal mechanism.

Not sure there is much of a difference between attitude and external mechanism, but my point is kindness requires willfull intent not ancient rituals

my point is that you can’t have kindness, if it was never in you in the first place. and it could never have been in you if it was put there.
