Does it have free will?

Its a robot so no

so why would you not feel safe, unless it malfunctions or your programming is flawed.

In your opinion it might be but in the opinion of its author, its exactly as HE wanted.

Spiritual matters are not to be collated with physical matters. Faith isn’t intended to be subjected to pitiable logic of men. You cannot use Einstein’s theories on relativity to explain spread of cancer. It’s absurd.
If by being religious/spiritual you think i am mad/nutcase, why bother with me? Do you ever go to a mental hospital and try to convince insane patients to make sense about themselves and their surroundings?
Or, you atheists, don’t you think we realize that although outwardly you come out as bold, there is something inside you that bothers you? Otherwise, why bother with religion if you think it is useless? Why are you always trying to justify your atheism through attacking religion? Yeah, by attacking faith, it makes your internal emptiness to feel ‘better’. Nothing different from the woman who slanders her neighbor in order to lessen her feelings of inadequacy.
Unless there is something you want from your EX, you don’t keep on calling her, right? You move on. If you completely rejected religion, just move on, OK? Stop looking back.
Or your atheism only gives you an orgasm once you attack religion?
Once more, if by being religious you think i am mad, then don’t let your 'sanity and knowledge and evidence ’ be tainted by my madness, right?
The same way sane people avoid mad people, learn to avoid the ‘mad, religious’ folk. I am sure you dont go Mathari hospital to taunt the mentally sick there and try to rationally argue with them. Similarly, because i am also religious and mad and irrational , don’t ever expect me to make sense of your daily memes.
Finally, let this get into your head: God is not religion and religion is not God. If religious people has become unholy, God remains holy. If clouds obscure the mighty sun, the sun still retains its glory. If actions of men has tainted the church, the church still remains holy. If Judas was a demon disguised as a man, the mission of Jesus remained holy and the seat of Judas was holy even though the one who had occupied it for three years was unclean.

I wish I could triple like @karl marx comment.

so what you’re saying is that i shouldn’t feel offended whenever you put up a thread or post a comment and do not fail to mention that us kenyan/nairobian women are all basic bisches who are not to be trusted? … its because, to quote your own words, “it makes your internal emptiness to feel ‘better’. Nothing different from the woman who slanders her neighbor in order to lessen her feelings of inadequacy.”

If the books are ‘flawed’, then God’s supreme law , which, unlike in ancient times when it was written in tablets of stones, is flawless and written in men’s hearts.
The written word about God is not about paragraphs and sentences but about the intended spirit. Great novels are not great because every sentence in them makes sense and is beautifully written; they are great because of the artistically created spirit in them and their overall literary spirit and value . Shakespeare, normally considered the greatest writer in the English language, wrote some of the most boring/obscure lines that you can ever come across. Dickens could be terribly boring.
You don’t read the bible because of the letter but because of the spirit. The spirit always triumphs over the letter. Jesus intentionally used to heal(‘work’) on Sabbaths in order to provoke and prove to the pharisees that the value of any law lies in its spirit and not its (apparently) superficial(letter) meaning .
Joyce’s ulysses rarely makes sense to many literature lovers yet it is considered one of the most important modernist novels.
The Bible, similarly, cannot make sense to anyone who tries to make sense out of it through interrogating its ‘letters’; it only makes sense to those who read it in order to understand its intended spirit(God’s love for mankind, fall and redemption of man and the ultimate consequence of sin).
Before trying to interpret the Bible, first learn to interpret the essence of any literary work. Some novels narrated in first person or even the ones employing FID(free indirect speech) contains some of the most idiotic/ irrational statements you can ever read yet some of these novels are normally included in the lists of the best novels ever written.

These are all baseless assertions and lots of pseudo-intellectual psychobable.

The reason why atheists dabble in religion so much is because it is one of the most influential ideologies to ever exist. The dogma that comes with it is more powerful than any weapon ever devised. We see the devastation that religion can cause in a world that we have to share with everyone else. When Al-Shabaab attacks Kenya and kills people, doesn’t that affect me? When Boko-haram kidnaps girls and rape them, I’m I supposed to sit back and be cold about it? When the Catholic church advises people not to vaccinate their children against Polio shouldn’t that get to me. The ripples of religion affect me and that’s why I talk.

If religion wasn’t so powerful an ideology I wouldn’t talk abou it.

It’s funny how @mayekeke agrees with a Kafir.

You are an asskisser. Stick to that

This is exactly what I dislike about religion. The assertion that it should not be questioned. If it is an absolute an is not intended to be subjected to pitiable logic of men" how can we then claim “Free will” exists. If we shouldn’t examine religion rationally how can we then claim to have made a choice?

The rest of your post is just you admitting that the holy books are flawed then claiming they shouldn’t be put into question.

Let us consider these two hypothetical letters: One written by a dad to his truant son(Mike) in high school and the other one written by a girl(Carol) to her supposedly ‘generous’ boyfriend who happens to be the same Mike

First letter(From dad to his son)

Hello Mike,

I hope everything is Ok there at Alliance. I am also convinced that you are abiding by the resolutions that we made during the holidays. We as your parents get pained whenever you come home having once again been suspended because of your truancy, dealing with contrabands and such. Let me remind you this: we agreed that I will have no option but to cancel the promised tour to Tsavo if you are suspended this term. There is no debate about that. Again, we agreed that if you are suspended, I will have no option but to enrol you in a day school. Because, what’s the point of me spending a lot of money schooling you at Alliance and yet you’ll only score a D? It would make more sense if you scored that D while enrolled at one of our village’s secondary schools. I don’t want to be strict with you but you are forcing me to.

Finally, I have enclosed 5 thousand Kenyan shillings. Let this get into your head: that money is strictly for your personal needs. You do realise that I know that you smoke? Keep in mind that your friends who lead you astray will not be there when you will be facing life’s challenges.

If you keep your promises, I will keep mine.

Your Dad

A.D.K

The second letter(From the ‘loving’ carol to mike)

(I obviously cannot pull off the ‘xaxa’ generation language but I will give it a try although I must be excused because I am very old school)

XaXa Mike,

Itz carol. Just been missin you so badly. Swirry, u don’t just understand how much luv I got 4 you? I am just crazy about u. mmmm………a million kisses from me…….Jus can’t wait 4 skuls to close so that we can hook up and rave.

So, swirry , is ur dad still harsh? Haki I can’t understand your dad? Kwani he can’t allow u to have fun? But swirry if he hates u, I luv u. be strong. But ur dad is so old skul kwani he thinks masomoo is everything.

So, swirry, did he send the 5k that he had promised? If he sent, haki si u save me with 4k swirry. Pliz……haki imagine I am attending my cuz bash and I need to spice up myself. Haki mike, I’ve neva met such a lovely person like u. It’s 4 this that my luv is 4 u forever.

So, pliz if u can send, use thiz Number: 07453454456767834278954

Mike, my luv is your forever

From

Carol with lots and lots of luv.

Ok I have failed terribly in trying to pull of the teen’s language ,but you get my point.

Now, in the first letter, the dad doesn’t mention anything about his love for his son. In fact, he is subtly threatening him with some consequences. He signs of simply as ‘your dad’. He has no time for sugary words. He tells his son about the possible consequences of his ‘sins’. He is also quite practical with his son. He tells him something about facing life alone.

In the second letter, the lass is professing her love for this boy. The letter is full of the ‘love’ word. She is making this boy to feel as if his father is his enemy. She is flattering the boy. But beneath this façade, there is greed.

Now the big question: Where is true love manifested? In the first letter or in the second letter?

The obvious answer is in the first letter. Although the dad doesn’t use the word love, you can sense a deep love for his son. If you try to interpret the two letters using only the superficial manifestations in them(ie the ‘letter’), you’ll think that this girl loves the boy more than the boy’s dad loves his son. In fact, there is no true love in the second letter. Only greed projected as love.

Ultimately, it is the SPIRIT of any written work that is of importance. Religious books are no exceptional.

If you read about the Noachian deluge, don’t try to read the letter(ie, how could an ark contain all species?). Read the spirit(God always saves his righteous).

If you read about Abraham and God’s command that he should sacrifice his son, don’t start yapping about how could an omniscient God test Abraham’s faith if He already knew the outcome ? Read the intended spirit: God’s intention of teaching future believers about faith and the need to make even personal sacrifices for the sake of the faith. The testing was not meant for Abraham but for future generations.

Don’t start questioning: Why can’t God just destroy Satan? Understand with the spirit that once Man became a willing accomplice to Satan’s machinations, God permitted man to experience first hand just how the world becomes chaotic once it rejects its Creator.

So, old monk, the first letter is quite threatening and perhaps even ‘flawed’ but beneath it, there is perfect love of a dad for his son.

THE SPIRIT IS All MATTERS.

Did you mean “correlated”?

Yes. That would be stupid.

Because when you, my brother are in trouble, so am I.

Yes. It’s called psychotherapy. And you are right comparing religiosity with mental illness.

What bothers us is your deliberate unwillingness to consider the implications of your melonheaded beliefs.
