Wanataka kujenga tenements?

Demolish and build is okay with me but not demolish and wait for an unknown period before you start building.
Case in point KeNHA on msa-mld Rd, they demolished a Yr ago na mpaka reo nothing. Meffi hao

Gava haina pesa ya kuanza ujenzi immediately. Wakibomoa, hizo shamba zitalala kiasi. Ata zinaweza kuwa grabbed.

Nairobi is congested

Muthurua is an eyesore.

I always wonder why everyone has to live in Nairobi city itself.

where should they stay, why do you stay there?

I meant CBD vicinity. They can stay in surrounding cities. Ngong, Kiserian, etc.

I live in Kahuho forest

imagine Google maps doesn’t know that place…

Google Kahuho

I was born and raised huko. I think it’s time to demolish them. The problem is this is nothing but a gentrification thing. They will build homes that non of the current residents can afford.

There are some in Kahawa West that route that Marion Farmhouse School is located behind the market. Individual buyers have been purchasing and renovating. But they are larger than these Pangani ones.

Nairobi is due for urban renewal. Those old city council estates/colonial era houses are an eyesore and they should have been demolished decades ago. Demolishing 17,000 units to pave way for units that will house 600,000 is good.

On that matter, the Moi Airbase should be moved too… we don’t need an airport so close to the CBD. KDF can build another base in Masaku. Releasing that land for housing will add close to a million of affordable housing units.

Why do people like complicating matters?:rolleyes:
The tenants should be moved to similar sized houses at the same rents as they are currently paying the county, they should also be given irrevocable allocation letters for units within the new projects at the same rate as they are now paying.

The developers will make a killing, they can afford to set aside units equal to the number of units they will demolish for affordable housing.
If they demolish 17,000 units to build 100,000 units then 17,000 units should be reserved for the old tenants at the old rates, that’s how developed countries eliminate slums.

and talking of slums, I haven’t heard what the Govt has to offer for Kibera, Mathare and other slums. We can’t continue being the city that has the largest slum in Africa.
