Nakumatt has decided to shut down its branch @NextGen Mall located on Mombasa Road this Saturday 9th September.
Nakumatt is the anchor tenant of NextGen (Ghost) Mall
Devastating situation in all Nakumatt Shops…no stock whatsoever! Westgate tenants are almost closing shop too, another ghost mall.
Too many malls sprung up…
In February Kenya as a whole had 53, with 19 in construction, making us the country with the highest number of malls in EA.
We are headed the US way, more than 20 of their malls shut down, some of the ones left are at the brink of death.
It’s simple > market saturation due to >> competition, no demand for malls, decreased need, & obsolescence…
Sasa ona
Ata mbuloti maguta is headed there
Nakumatt should change its name to Ghostmatt.
Its the anchor client in the majority of ghostmalls.
Last I heard about them is that they had found an investor willing to inject 3.5B
Ama Ricematt because the only product not out of stock yet is Pakistan rice
naskia the big wigs wa nakumart ni wezi ka uhuruto no wonder ina nose dive
Game are doing well, they are having queues while Nakumatt hapo chini is empty
Huyu mhindi si auze shares tu apate capital. At this rate, Nakumatt will cease operations kabisa and remain only in history books. Tutakuwa tunaambia watoto wetu there was Nakumatt.
Hii itakuwa sawa. Tununue ploti Na bei ya jioni in 2020.
Amazon Prime is so good and convenient yani. Even when you have the time to go shopping you don’t feel like it.
Uchumi Sarit centre are moving out in a couple of months… word on the streets
Nakumatt = Things fall apart
Pasiktan
"Unga Ltd" had to find a way of washing pesa…so the fastest way was build malls, generate foot traffic to the malls, then channel money into banks as legitimate proceeds from tenants and auxiliary services(parking/weekly Maasai markets/concert hosting etc.)
Other supermarkets are strategically positioning themselves, like vultures, to cash in when Nakumat eventually collapses.
Example: Naivas opened a very big branch in a new mall just opposite Rigdeways Mall.
went to uchumi langata road sometime last week and they didnt even have sodas, too many empty shelves
word on the street is that nakumat made a major blunder when they elbowed out the one constant cash injector in hopes of signing in a major investor who inturn was no show, so they ended up loosing on two fronts
@Okiya , any truth in this? a case of counting chicken before eggs hatch?
