Am trying to install ubuntu and am getting stuck. I have downloaded ubuntu 20.04.1 LTS and rufus 3.11 and formated my usb into bootable drive but when restarting my pc, it tells me “no operating system found on usb”. The 3rd time in row now tapping F12 (its the only one responding on the machine am using) i have used ESC, F9 & F10 and they’re not responding the way it should. I dont know what is happening

How is your windows installed? Legacy BIOS or UEFI ?

Install Vmware Workstation or Oracle Virtualbox on the windows and create a virtual machine…then install the Ubuntu there

I would go with @MBOMB idea.
Linux always leaves some bird droppings if installed on the same HDD as windows. Either virtualize it, or use a separate physical HDD/SSD

Change BIOS settings from UEFI to Legacy and you should be able to dual boot. Don’t install Ubuntu alongside Windows, create your own partitions( Swap, Home and root).

My only advice start with Windows so that Grub can see it later

This is a very common problem

what you do is download and install Balener Etcher software for making the flash bootable with a linux image.

YOU MUST STOP USING RUFUS TO MAKE ANY LINUX DISTRIBUTION FLASH BOOTABLE :mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

then follow normal installation procedure. select auto install and then choose dual boot. this process takes less than 17 minutes

if you need further help nione inbox

Google how to install this shit, kuna best explanation with images, an ujue if you mess you can wipe everything

you will have to format that PC and install Ubuntu first or if by chance there is un allocated space in your pc then you are good to go…here is a youtbe video that would help alot…you MUST HAVE UNALLOCATED SPACE In your hard disk.

Check Ubuntu forums.

Mimi nilijaribu I ended formatting everything. Ilinikula kichwa Hadi booting the window ilikuwa sida. Ilibidii nianze skweya one.

It takes a performance hit since it is running on Windows. Dual booting ensures complete isolation from Windows

tripple booting??

Why not partition your drive and install it there? I had done it a few years ago and I didn’t have any major issues. If you only want it for a short duration (i.e temporary), the VM way would be the best.

Yes, from the Grub bootloader menu I can select Windows 10, Ubuntu or Kali. Windows 10 boots by default if I don’t press F9.

Maybe check the format you’ve chosen on Rufus . Tried writing the image with rufus na ntfs comp ikadinda kusoma os nikaiformat na fat32 ikawork just fine . Dual booting without any issues
