The forward, who joined the Ligue 1 club in the summer for a world-record £198million, missed Unai Emery’s side’s latest walkover on Saturday with a knock.
Emery told reporters before the game: ‘Neymar had a small blow to his muscle and didn’t feel well this morning. I spoke with the doctors and with him and we decided it’s best if he stays in Paris.’
And according to Spanish publication Sport, Neymar has little interest in playing for his club outside of the Champions League, such is his disillusion with the level he has found himself playing against.
PSG are already four points clear at the top of Ligue 1 and have dropped just four points all season. Neymar has scored seven and set up a further six goals in just eight league appearances this season.
Its not just money but prestige of being the top player in the world. After Ronaldo and Messi he was the 3 best player. Now he has traded Spain to 5 best league in the world. He is playing teams weekly where the results is nearly certain a win for PSG. Monaco who were their only challenger got broken apart in the transfer window. He is facing easy games and French league doesn’t get global TV audiences.
to early with that easy games man…uefa is the top league and the team is doing great, apart from epl the rest leagues are not far apart with global audience in eu…if they dont make it to the finals then thats another case, but for now thats a cheap article, also astonished its not from goal.com,we know them with cheap criticisms …
Champions league, Premiership, LA Liga, Bundesliga, Seria A then French league. Hapo ndio shida. On a weekend which one would you rather watch. Maybe 1 in 20 will say French league. That’s where the 3 best player in the world has relegated himself to.
I think he thought he’d be the star of the team. Nowadays the front line for PSG is like the Barca one - very dangerous such that even the odds for any PSG game are priced sooooooooo low.
Young men with money and egos tend to have problems fitting in.
And without global coverage like the Spanish and English league, then he might be realising that he made a slight mistake. I’m sure he wants to win three champions league. And for him to do so he must accept where he is and play like there’s no tomorrow.
Unless PSG agree on their own to she then he is there to stay for the duration of his contract. His release clause must be massive I.e $1 billion. This is just a lesson to future stars that money isn’t everything.
Ligue 1 is no place for a football superstar in his prime. He should have stayed in Barca or move to the EPL where competition would push him to the limit, supertalented individuals dont do well in easy challenges
