There is nothing wrong with mud houses if they are properly done. The mud mosques in Timbuktu have survived several centuries.

I know there are endeavours in the “green revolution” to adopt use mud houses since they are considered more green. It is actually becoming a thing!. I will try and get you architectural designs from a friend in Morocco. But a little Google search (like I’ve done below) will show you what is possible. Ghana, Morocco, India… have interesting design concepts.
