Afrika will start producing when people who know how to produce start producing. Kenya had a golden opportunities a couple of decades immediately after independence. The country was dotted with many multinational companies, and we failed to replicate their operations, you know why ?
i grew up in the 80’s surrounded by a magnitude of industries, parastatals, indian and foreign owned, by then, anyone who carried a title in those companies would clock out headed to the nearest bar, weekend people would drink silly, good times you would say.
Now let’s go to China and other Asian countries, foreigners who’ve set shop in China are constantly complaining about intellectual theft, the Chinese are replicating anything they lay their hands on, and step by step are building their manufacturing base.
Here we are scratching our heads wondering how to get out of this quagmire.

Hatujiamini that we can make it on our own. Hatuamini that what we man can be quality.

Africa needs leaders like Hitler. Hitler first worked on the morale of Germans and the country later rapidly grew. He took over when Germany was serious being shafted by UN.

Remember that China also started to get U.S transfer of knowledge starting from 1979 the same period you are talking about. Before that they were more backward than Kenya. It started with a trade agreement signed between the govt of Jimmy Carter and Xiaoping.

While the Kenyans you speak of were going to the bar the Ching chong started ingesting the mew knowledge very hungrily!

Under Moi Kenya slid back while China moved forward on steroid like strength.

30 ft row and these guys have harvested all those potatoes ?

The real reason is that our infrastructure is underdeveloped. To develop, Africa needs to go into value added methodologies. That is, producing everything locally. But our infrastructure needs serious retooling. Starting from heavy taxation by government on importation of raw materials and machinery, poor government policy( protecting monopolies), costly and unreliable energy, lack of skilled labor ( how many people locally can service a-mri machine), inadequate capital…etc.

Bigger than what we produce here

I listened to Louis Farrakhan speaking in one of his many documentaries and he mentioned something to do with shedding the tribal connection.

He quoted that long ago the connection to tribes was very strong in Europe. There were Gothi, Valagothi, Cibidi, Burgundi, and Longobardi; from Neugio, the Bogari, Vandali, Saxones, and Tarincgi. The whole of Europe was subdivided into these tribes. Later they dropped those tags and that is when Development began and wars ended.

There are still/were recent wars in Eastern Europe because of tribes. In Armenia, Yogoslavia etc.

we had from 1964 to 1992, as a kid, i used to visit some of the so called engineers, senior Technicians and so on. over the years , i have tried to remember any home of these guy where i saw a tool box but can’t .
In Murica, garages, basement and attic ndio mambo yote, that’s where most American companies are formed. In .ke , we just luck motivation, cutting deals ndio zetu, na ku establish NGO’s, easy money.

shida ya bonobo ni IQ, we have never been on the same level with east asia

-By 1953 the Chinese had initiated research leading to the development of nuclear weapons.
-China successfully exploded its first atomic bomb (October 16, 1964), launched its first nuclear missile (October 25, 1966), and detonated its first hydrogen bomb (June 14, 1967)

sino-japanese wars, cultural Revolution & shitty mao experiments just slowed down scientific and educational sectors in China

This thing of China being same level ( or about the same) as Kenya is just not right. Chinese manufacturing existed even in the 60s. China made electronics in the 70s and 80s. China made its own machines even before the 80s.

how do you explain post independence growth upto the 90’s ? with all the car assembly plants we had in the country, by now we should be producing major components for cars.

you don’t believe in yourselves. you don’t believe in your own brethren. you buy from strangers.

You have no culture, you like shiny things, you like vanity.
you are just a market.

The colonialists left a working system. What you probably saw is the tail end of the use of their infrastructure. Think about it, in the 80s, how many days did water run out. Or power.

Lets even start with your example. In order to have an assembly plant, you need a cheap and steady supply of electricity. Even before that, you cant overtax the components coming in( which is the present state). All this to beat cheap imports of cars. Jomo Kenyatta and Moi killed any meanigiful progress. They really had no agenda. Both were lost in some meaningless pan African movement. Moi was an outright crook.

This is what I keep saying. Until Africans learn to build their own, we will never advance. Its not even about corruption.

i do agree on the leadership, but then , when most of these multinationals left, the indians were left to dominate industries. my question is , with 20 years plus of opportunities, what did mwafrika do ? where are the blue prints and formulas from the massive East Africa Industries ?
