The new year brings with it new asteroid threats, with NASA warning of two close cosmic flybys in a single day following a busy festive period of Near Earth Object (NEO) approaches to our planet.
The first NEO to buzz the Earth today is identified as 2020 AQ1 – and was only first spotted on January 11. Happily, the 755ft-diameter space rock screamed safely by us at roughly 2:54am EST, passing a mere 0.026 AU from Earth – 2.5 million miles from the planet’s core – at a speed of 61,500 miles per hour.
Next up on Monday is 2013 DU, estimated to be up to 308 feet in diameter, travelling at a (relatively) paltry 14,226 mph, much slower than its earlier cosmic counterpart. It’s expected to pass the Earth at 9:19pm EST, at a safe distance of 0.083 AU or 3.5 million miles.

Thats close. if several big ones keep passing that close every other time there is a probability one will come close enough and slow enough to get caught in earths gravitational field, which is far reaching(keeps the moon tethered). once caught, it can come crashing in. good thing is that most are small and are destroyed by the atmosphere.

Nonsense. How many asteroids have “come close to colliding with planet earth” since you were born? How many have actually done so? These scientists know how extremely boring their field is, so they latch onto anything that makes it remotely interesting.
The lifetime of a human being is very short! People may not live to experience everything. There are several asteroid impact sites in the world to prove that asteroids have hit earth and can hit earth.

Human life is short, yet these scientists tell us of a potential asteroid impact every 5 years, which just proves it’s mostly nonsense. Throughout history, humans have kept records. Have the Egyptians, Greeks, Romans, Arabs, Chinese, or even Incas/Aztecs/Mayans ever made records of a significant asteroid impact? The ten largest asteroid impacts allegedly go back tens to hundreds of millions of years.
The Tunguska event has been described by some as an asteroid event, but no one knows for sure. The largest is said to have occurred 2 billion years ago. It has an estimated radius of 190 kms. Now that’s huge, but given the size of planet earth, still tiny. If a major asteroid impact hasn’t taken place in thousands of years, I doubt it will happen every 5 years like these idle scientists want us to think.
To explain to someone who believes that God lives up there that theres space and its only unbreathable air, lack of gravitational force , flying objects wont be a walk in a path.
