The 700 Club anchor said that “violence in the streets” is happening because “we have disrespect for authority; there is profound disrespect for our president, all across this nation they say terrible things about him. It’s in the news, it’s in other places.” Robertson specifically noted the NFL players kneeling, “There is disrespect now for our national anthem, disrespect for our veterans, disrespect for the institutions of our government, disrespect for the court system. The guy supported invasion of Iraq and Afghanistan, quoting religious texts, made me wary of all religious fundamentalism.
But isn’t he correct? When your own kids lack respect for you, the bullshit they can so and cause will be heartbreaking.
When you have zero respect for someone or something, people with different temperaments react differently. Black guys refusing to respect the anthem and white guys killing people.
But if the father has no respect for his kids, how can he get respect back. Respect is earned… and it’s a two-way street.
