Over 300 New Houses demolished at Athi-River

It is paramount we get behind who are the people involved in wrongfully selling government land to unsuspecting people. We must uncover the sellers and hold them accountable, it is not sufficient to punish mostly the victims.

All that wealth down the sewer. I was surprised that non of the major leaders said anything when lawyers were resisting the digitization of lands records in Kenya. That is something that can be the cure for most of this land related frauds in Kenya

while i agree that the initial culprit who sold the land need to be caught, i have no mercy for those whose houses were demolished. they are like those spare part shops that buy stolen car parts thus encourage carjacking and theft. i remember right from the start, this land was embroiled in controversy but these guys went ahead and bought, apparently coz it was cheap. in future, they will know better than to enable robbers through provision of a market for their stolen goods.

You will never uncover the sellers and they will never get justice. Risky business this one.

I agree.

Very sad, civic education is very much needed in kenya. So that unsuspecting kenyans can know the due diligence of acquiring properties.

Most likely the one who was supposed to spot and say this is wrong was given za macho (well, za kufunga macho:D) naye akasema i am not a fool to refuse money.

Don’t even blame the govt. Guys were kichwa ngumu…the clever ones sold their parcels to others when they realized what was going on.Hawa walijenga wakijua the risk factor.

@Purple, i am familiar with this shamba coz someone had invited me to buy some plots. there were court cases that were going on right from the start before they started building. even when subdivisions started, the controversy on ownership was in the public which is why i refused to buy. but these guys ignored this and thought they could forever use court orders and prevailing complacency on public land theft to circumvent this .

Terrible. Very sad.

A while back there was a place which houses were being demolished I think its in kitengela or arthi …one of the guys was on TV crying as we watched his mansion go down …he had just finished and was planning to Start living in the house even had a jacuzzi… Another one of his neighbours couldn’t take it the family says when the demolision started he disappeared and his phone was off they feared for the worst.

Afadhali kuishi gishagi …Town life be tricky .

The home owners claimed they were in possession of a court order from the Environment and Lands court in Machakos barring the demolition. Some claimed to have secured banks loans to set up the buildings.

Note: these ‘owners’ are not brandishing title deeds or even certificates pending title issuance. How did they obtain those bank loans?

I was in Syokimau when houses were being demolished and I can tell you it’s a painful experience.
One of my acquaintances had built a palatial home complete with perimeter fence, electric fence on top complete with razor wire and CCTV cameras.
Bulldozers couldn’t even reach the centre of the house due to it’s sheer size.
The guy went into a depression and switched off all his phones and till now only a few know his whereabouts.

Mimi wakikuja najifunga na chain kama Okiya Omtata and dare them to crush me together with the house.

Why why why…Nothing is impossible.

Selective application of justice!
