PA System & Events Business

Looking to pool some funds and purchase some PA system equipment…
Is there anyone currently in this field that would give a list of equipment to start off with… E.g Tops, bass speakers, mics… The works.
There’s a lot more to it that I don’t know… Requesting for your assistance.
Looking to start off basic so let’s say equipment that could comfortably run a gig of let’s say 200pax.

A good mixer is everything, then speakers and mics. Something that most people forget that is equally important is a cable reel for power supply, and quality cables, if you skimp on these you will keep on replacing them.

i have some good info but you will have to wait i send it to you tommorow…all you need is knowing the right people and having a great workforce and good machines.

on finances;

60% downpayment before event 40% before event closes. This is to avoid headaches and P.E.

Maintainance,
Spend a lumpsome servicing your machines and you will be in business for a while.

Staff
Never trust your staff;Especially your friends thwy will run gigs and sideline you in finances.Hire good pros; a dj; Seasonal hypeman/mcee; photographer/video (DOP). Search good refferals for a technician to connect your speakers…Midrange speakers with bad connections=burnt coils and spoilt speakers.

Physical office/Branding
this is crucial for storage and marketing your services.

Rules of the playfield
1.Avoid politicians when you start out.
2.Always have a van ready in lieu with deploy.
3.Quotation before sensations.Money first entertainment later.
4.No cheques; especially bluechip companies and churches.
5.Sabotage an event if your needs aint met.
6.Brand your Brand;to separate your brand from other “Brandys”
7.Stay away from “Original” equipment" in riveroad and Luthuli. The mafia will swindle you with chinese Ahuja things.

Best of Luck

Start with equipment for like 500 pax especially the Amplifier/s. If you buy low wattage Amplifiers uouruograde solution will be to replace them completely as you grow.

-Also invest in a good Surge Protector or if funds allow an offline UPS.

  • Buy quality mics.

You can buy used equipment but from UK and USA

Wah!! Hard player, but it’s Kenya where men break promises, lie and steal without blinking.

Tafuta Duke of Busia. He knows a lot about the industry. Did not tag him so you do it.

Nada to add. On point sana. Wooooi no 7 hapo mwisho mekora mekora…everywhere.

  1. Be prepared to put in the hard work and long hrs while maintaining sobriety while surrounded by akoho na lanyes.
  2. Network like the world is ending tomorrow.

That is just my 2naira.

consider a generator for power backup plan

its a good list for a start buy stuff from reputable shops, and you will be good to go…

I checked with a credible outlet for these ones.
In the meantime I’m looking for alternatives e.g ex UK stuff for import… Or even new stuff for import

wachana na ex uk buy new stuff direct from manufacture it may cost you but you will be happy in the long run

Workforce is everything.

From my little knowledge everything is ok in that list. Only make sure you buy original equipment from credible outlets.

Hapo kwa tops also check martin audio, wharfedale,na many others for comparison in prices pia.
Base chukua RCF the best way buy speakers enda ngara wakutengenezee box which way you choose.
Hapo kwa Amp hiyo haitoshi, you need one for base and another for Tops.
Mixer ya Yamaha inabei n u just starting.
I would prefer Behringer for a start.
Kwa hiyo list sijaona player.
Numark with a mixer will assist and its cheaper compared to pioneer cdj 850 nakama unafika bei ya cdj2000 ni fresh.
All these are tied to budget uko nayo otherwise options ni kibao.
Sijaona cables,XRL,speaker stands, flight case (mounting all amps, players, mixers on racks permanently).
There is a lot n hopefully other Elders can add on.

Cables, racks, mics, stands etc ziko kando.
Those are easy to get.
Needed help on these main items… The cost-intensive ones.

About story ya kutengeneza box I’ve been advised against it by several people since no professional sound lab measurements are involved.
